These all look amazing. But whats the damage on the buds customs rig. I'm guessing there wouldn't be much change from $5k?

$7950 includes a modified air locker
$6750 minus air locker

Its a great price when you look at the parts going in! The Ried racing kingpin knuckles are around $1200 alone, not shipped.
I got prices from currie for a RJ3 with the best of everything + 4.88 & ARB = $7720, and SOLID was $6695, even spidetrax was in the high $7k. At least then you aren't using a $5 nissan center which will snap the pinion on the first rock.

SKU: SACOM-FR60KP-ARB
Features & Standard Equipment:
Solid Axle heavy duty housing and differential covers, 3.125 O.D. x .50 Wall DOM axle tube, Superior Axle & Gear, Alloy USA, or Dutchman axle shafts, Precision Gear, Superior Axle and Gear, or Dana Spicer ring and pinion, Timken bearings, Stainless steel flexible brake lines (rear), Dana Spicer U-joints, U-bolt style yoke (other option available), Fully TIG/MIG welded end forgings, High quality disc brake system, Solid Axle forged hubs (5,6 or 8 lug bolt patterns), Solid Axle forged spindles, Warn premium locking hubs, Solid Axle 35 spindle drive flanges, Finished in high gloss black.

Greg.....I really wish you wouldn't point out the pointlessness of the NotDana60Nissan35splineToyotaaxledReidknuckled diff that Benny paid the same amount to build as the real deal built as fawk D60s. He'll just carry a heap of spare Nissan 3rds with airlockers in each one so when they bust on that first rock, he can go back to camp and replace it with a new one...and then bust it on that first rock again :D

Prices don't including shipping tho Greg. Post up shipping cost and the fact you have too try and get the point across to them what you want. The amount of trouble you have ordering of the shelf parts is horrific let alone changing the width of something. I looked at some options you mentioned and they where plain painful to talk to.

As for the centre Greg and Micka show me proof of a high pinion diff breaking the pinion when run the correct way?
Micka you've never had a Nissan.

I want a drop out 3rd member not a drop out crown wheel.
My money my choice. It's a good local option I think.

Actually I did own a shorty back in about '96 for about 2-3 months, but that's beside the point.

You're right...I've never personally seen a high pinion Nissan pinion fail when run the correct way, as you rightly point out. I do still think that the fuse in your assembly is the pinion and as long as you're fine with that, then all is good.

After all, you now have HEAPS stronger axles/unis/stubs, shit loads better steering angle, more clearance, and a stronger housing than what was previously under there.

I personally would have spent the extra to go with a Solid HP D60 or similar, but since you wanted a drop out 3rd (and you're probably not spending as much as that would cost anyway) then what you're building is going to be as strong as you can get without going nuts on full aftermarket.

The 1 off custom route gets you points though...even if your axles are small :finger:

It's not 1 off, Dragtec customs have already built a dana60/ gu hybrid under there buggy, I'm curiouse to know Wat your going to do when u do bust a center as u can't replace with any patrol front as wouldn't ur spider gears be machined out to accommodate the axles as u claim they don't taper down? Do u carry a spare center with modified gears as well?

It is a 1 off at the moment.
DragTec are building a gq/gu Dana 60 hybrid BUT THERE is very large differences in the strength.
Chris is using ball joint, from any and all accounts weaker.
He is using stock hardy splicer unis. I am using longfiled unis.
He is using single shear high steer. I am using double.
His axles are being machined down to 33 spline. He was talking about trying 31 spline. I am using 35 spline axles and 35 spline side gears.

What he is building will be stronger than stock with better steering. What i am building will be better again.

This option is costing more cause it has much more to offer. At the moment it's a one of.

Its not a claim. 35spline at one end, 35 at the other. Where would it and why would it neck down?
I will carry a spare front diff yes, side gears no. As Micka started the pinion will be the weak not the locker. I will change the locker into the new gear set.

It is a 1 off.

I've read up on the Dragtec hybrid and spoken at length to WICKED about his, and believe me they are very different. The one WICKED is building is much stronger IMHO, for the reasons he already stated.

1 off custom is where its at ;)

Buddy and I spoke about this about 2 years ago. I discussed it with chris last year.
Even so it's an idea that has been done for years. Mal and matt dunk put 404 portals on a gq diff. Did they copy some else's idea.

Chris was selling T700 to LT230 adapters after looking at and measuring a Haultech one. Is that copying?

If you re-read the post above the one you keep editing you'll see I've explained the sides gears.

No...cause the Haultech ones worked.

Interesting to see how the new improved design goes.

sorry little off topic but from what ive heard all the cars that used the dragtec adaptor are still running them and the issue was with the sealing of the adaptor not construction of the adaptor itself, i could be wrong but thats what ive heard, but hey everyone hears different things lol

On the topic of "weak points", i was going 40 spline all round and have decided to run 40 inners and 35 outers. A chromolly 35 spline outer is a MUCH cheaper and easier fix than a ring/pinion/carrier/inner axle/CTM uni

Guys in the states running 40 spline inners and outers have blown their CTM's instead, and the resulting shock to the drivetrain destroyed the Ring and pinion and also the output on the atlas.
