No problems. Just made a phone call to a good mate of mine who just did the LO1 on my truck. As per everyone's response he won't do it unfortunately. But to be honest it's just going to be hit and miss. I know it used to be done, so it's just a matter of finding the right engineer that will still do it. I know they are out there.

Not sure if helps in QLD but spoke to the NSW RTA and there is nothing that can't be engineered, the rim size, tire diameter and suspension lifts, self certified is wheel diameter no bigger that 15mm and rim 1" wider and suspension 1/3 of factory height. with the engineering of big lifts and tires is up to wat an engineer is willing to certify, so don't let them say is not engineerable, at the end of the day if the truck rolls or crashes it comes back to the engineer, so its wat the engineer is willing to certify.

I thought (theoretically) that with the new F1854 whatever form (you know the one you send off and say I'm going to do this and that) you could say 35's tyres, disk conversion, upgraded calipers etc etc and they might look at doing it BUT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT QT SO LOGIC AND COMMON SENSE DO NOT APPLY.

Here is a copy of the form I had saved from my build. Don't go this way. I fought with QTrans for 6 months with mine. Either make some calls to see if you can find an old school engineer who still write the old codes or just run them like everyone else in Queensland. Didn't you say you have it already plated from NSW?

Every man and his dog runs 35s on luxs up here in Darwin NT. I sit a touch over 7" taller including and 6" wider and I should be right unless ingot a anal cop. I dint have a engineers copy or anything as they are so expensive up here

It's only the Traffic Cops that give a rats ass. You'd be very unlucky to get done by a regular cop.

Seriously, who decides they want to be a Traffic Cop? They pull over a well presented and serviced cruiser on 35s but the VN commodore that just drove past with 4 bald tires, no CTP, that hasn't had a wheel off in 10 years, cruises past no probs

Nah it's Rego'd in Nsw but not yet mod plated. I was hopin with a Nsw mod plate QLD rego Tfr would be a sinch. Still dissing that out.

sorry to say mate, but NSW mod plates mean shite to the fun police up here. but as I said play dumb and you may get let off.

About 10 years ago there was a F100 on 37's getting around sunnybank with qld rego and a letter from Qld Transport saying that it complies. Story was he did a rego transfer from NSW, and received a letter from QLD transport to acknowledge NSW mod certificates (hence making the vehicle legal in qld).

When my family first moved to qld(1990) we transfered the rego of an 89 landcruiser with rear seats installed (8 seats). In NSW they didn't do mod plates, just a mod certificate and record it on the RTA system. QLD Transport transfered the rego and the person at the desk accepted the paper certificate. (they should have made us go and get the seat installation approved in qld) Result? The car was technically illegal as an 8 seater for 10 years, and when I tried to get a safety certificate years later the guy doing the inspection didn't know what to do!. I went to qld transport and they wanted me to go and get the seats re-inspected. i just pulled the seats out of the back which made it a 6 seater again (but qld rego still says its an 8 seater lol)

This sort of stuff has happened in the past and i dont see any reason it couldnt happen today!

@loosecannon , it has never been possible under the current scheme (1985?) to mod plate a tyre size change on a passenger vehicle in QLD. Only for trucks and buses. Any approved person that does try to do it will result in the police/qld transport ripping the mod plate off your car with a screw driver, and then the approved person will find themselves answering some questions, and your car is still illegal. Most of the traffic cops know the rules enough to just give you the fine regardless of what your mod plate says, or ask you to present the vehicle for inspection at qld transport (with or without fine).

As Twisty says, if you do everything correct, ie flares and mudplaps, and your car doesnt look like a POS. You will not get hassled for 33" tyres. Even 35s on a patrol and landcruiser will usually be left alone aslong as the rest of the vehicle looks right.

Whats the most offset angle you are allowed for your rims in Qld?

Same as any other state... If it sticks outside your guards it's illegal. Depends on your vehicle as to the amount of offset required to do that.

if you mean wheel offset

you are only allowed to increase the track of your vehicle (measure from the center of one tire to center of opposite tire) by 2"

so if your using the same tyre/rims as factory, you can increase your offset by 1" (1" a side means 2" total).

if you have wider tyres, youl have to do some measuring or maths to figure out what offset you can have.

Looks like I'm really stuck for options... In the likely event I can't find someone to pass it at least the trucks clean and usually well presented. Only needs some extender flares just to tuck the wheels in a tad.

NSW is only allowed 25mm increase to wheel track. So Qlder's can proudly stick their 29" tyres out a full 12.5mm more each side!
