I only ever used the cheapest unleaded fuel i could find for my Feroza, never once put PULP in it, and i also never once had a detonation problem.
Yes, it's a strange one that. Mine has a problem, and a friend bought one new back in '96 and I remember him having problems with pinging from day one. Other people on WARFS have similar problems too Mine only does it on warm days and up hills (one steep hill in particular I drive up everyday.) It could be a build up of carbon in the combustion chambers which water injection should clean out.
Anyway, I'm getting all the bits together and will give it a go. The pressure pump has arrived (one used in 12v portable agricultural sprayers) and I "manufactured" most of the adaptor mount for the spray nozzle today.
I'm looking into programmable microcontrollers for running the show using TPS, MAP and revs for trigger levels and pulse width modulating the water supply via a solenoid to control the water flow. That's in the long term anyway- I'll use something simpler to start with....
The Megasquirt would work, but is more complex than I need. Plus I don't think normal injectors would like water going through them for too long!?
