I don't meen to be nit picky,But are those 50mm extended shackles street legal or at a minimum engineerable????? So basically The lift would only comprise of 2"lifted leafs and the shackles am i right???
Jamie
they would have to be 3" lifted leafs + 2" shackles to make 4" lift. And what do you do with the Dudelux draglink?
parabolics... got axle wrap?
cheers Brian
Brian How do you get 4"lift out of 3" + 2"?????
you get approximately half the extra length of the shackle at the axle - if you make the shackle 100mm longer, it only lifts the truck by at best 50mm, and that is if the shackle stands up more or less vertically with the vehicle at rest. (the more the shackle deviates from vertical the less extra lift you achieve by lengthening the shackle.) so 3" springs give you 3" lift, 2" shackles give you 1" lift.
Yeah thats makes sense,I was just having a dig at ya.

it would be a 4" lift because despite the shackles being two inches longer they only lift the car 1" because you are only lifting one end of the spring. As a result the 2" of lift is distributed accross the entire length of the spring therefore it ends up being only 1" in total lift. Extended shackles like this do have to be engineered and they do effect ones insurance, particularly now that the RTA is cracking down on mods like this. Also they tend to push the diff forward or back depending on which end of the spring the shackle is placed at, depending on the car this could lead to a need for tail shaft mods
My mind is like a steel trap....quite dangerous because i forget where i left it.
