been waiting on a callback from the mysterious Mick @ superior since wednesday... spoke to some bloke there about my lux who kept telling me i need to speak to Mick - left my details... no callback.
perhaps my query wasn't hardcore enough for his liking :x

I would say this is unusual for Mick. It may be he never got the message or it has just slipped his mind. I would call him back. I have yet to hear a bad report about Customer Service from Superior.

yeah same from my dealings the serive was really good

I've dealt with Mick a number of times and cannot fault his customer service.

Although my whole coil 4 link suspenion cost about the same as a pair of shackles - and no, I'm not swapping!

but then again, some ppl love them. i think kermit runs them on his LJ zook in comps. i wouldn't run them myself - lack of control when they unload, especially on side angles... could end up on ya roof in the worst case

search for drop shackles, climax, or superior..

Man a superior shackle is a fairly different creature to the other drop shackles in the design of the hinge. They are the better design as far as flop shackles go (not too far IMO).

Kermit runs climaxes not superiors and its not really apples to apples camparing the two ;) Heck I've had no name drop shackles and climaxes but can't comment on superior ones cause they are different again :)

Kermit used to run Climax's but now he runs Superiors. I'm not sure of his front setup, but I'm certain that they're not climax's there either.
There is a guy in my club who runs superior's on the rear of his Hilux aswell and is quite happy with them.
wtf is an acronym

through work we deal with about 30 suppliers and all are in the 4x4 industry, Mick is the only one that wont bullshit you or fuck you round. if it is going to be 3 days till you get your parts he will tell you, if they get delayed he will tell you and do everything he can to get the parts to you asap.

for a small business (staff wise) he far our does alot of the larger ones and i find it hard to believe that he didnt call you back.

Contrary to what i imagine Mick has told you i honostly have no problems with the guy or most of the products he makes. I just dont beleive in the benifits of these shackles for the cost to make them work. But this is totaly my own opinion. Other than that i think they are designed and built better than any other similar shackle on the market. And if i was looking for any other custom product that he offers then my money would be spent there.

As far as business goes i am yet to hear a single complaint from a person that has ever delt with them. Which in this industry means a great deal to me. If anyone is looking for a product Superior is offering then i cant recomend them enough.

i used to run superior shackles in the rear of my lux with the longer springs, which are actually xd falcon ute springs with new main leaves and redrilled centre pin, trac bar, limit strap, angled shocks, and yes it did work very well in most cases.
it did still hop very bad on hills, they can be unpredictable goin down steep hills if the front wheel drops into a hole. i also found that the rear springs last longer because they are not twisting as much, using orbit eyes in the other end of the spring improves this further.

i have now gone to a 3 link coil setup in the rear, altough it has yet to be tested to see how it compares, but i know the coil rear end can be fully engineered but the superior shackles can not, in qld anyway.
