Come on fellas do the right thing and fit flares and rear flaps. Helps us all in the long run.

Bazzle

both times i have been done for tyres outside and no mudflaps I did have them but they had been torn off. I try and ensure they are always covered properly but have just found out that flares must be of a structural nature able to deflect a pedestrian so the lightweight material I was using was inadequate

I've always wondered what is going to happen if the cops ever pull me up in QLD. 2" Body lift that yes, I admit, is not engineered (it is safely done tho with no issues in 2 years), and tires just sticking out of the guards...

It passed a RWC with no questions asked here in QLD when changing from NSW rego.

Passed plenty of cops around, even had a few at work have a look at it...nothing bad to say so dunno if it will ever get pulled up? ;)

tyres out of guards
no mud flaps
seat belt frey
unapproved five link
unapproved ute mod
7"coils
muffler
no bullbar
no front rego.

i was driving to the shed to install mud flaps and finsh her off and i got stung.

i got a safety cert and fixed it up and all was sweet. no fine no points.
gotta be nice i recon.

they were thick as, knew nothing. they had to look up everything in the wait for it - little red brochure that you can get from the dot. they started reading the car things like tyres not more than 1.3 times wider. i had to show them the 1.5 wider 4x4 section. then i had to explain that 12.5" was less than 1.5 times 10" and they were converting to mm and dicking around. dickheads.

 cheers

bru

have you ever seen a cop car with mud flaps ... (ford - holden)
they have them removed . when setting up as a cop car .
as i used to work in qld where they set up new cop cars .....
don't know about other states .
when i got pulled up for no mud flaps . i asked the cop , where are your mud flaps .... he got pissed off and let me go ......

So what happens with a NSW regoed car and mods that are allowed in NSW heading through Qld?

If I do a bodylift and drive to Cairns can I get done on Qld laws in a NSW car?
in my experience it all comes down to your attitude and if the cop in question is having a bad day or not.
most cops are pretty cool when it comes to 4wd's but if it's too ridiculous you know your just going to get pinged.
i douubt that they would impound your car for tyres out of the body line but don't forget, you CAN be defected for not having water in you windscreen washer bottle...

Cheers Chris
I wouldnt stress mate i dont know about inner city cops but the country cops in victoria couldnt give a rats really about 4wd's, there to busy pulling over all the B&S utes.
