swampers are very stiff my mate runs his at 5psi on his 60 series no bead locks iguess ill just have to get my lazy ass out of the seat and play with pressures a little more......or maybe ill make the handbrake do it[i call herthe handbrake because she tries to put a stop to everything]

Roc box, are you running tubes? these help at lower pressures,
I have a soft top shorty and run 33x13.5 on 8.5" beadlocked rim, obviously with the B/L's I don't have to worry as much about popping a bead, so when I defate I usualy go straight to 1-3 psi and at these pressures they flex like Nadia Comaneci after a rub down
before the B/L's I would loose the bead at about 5 psi (which is where they are just starting to work).
On the highway I run no more than 18 psi, I know everyone has a horror story of when the tyre service fitted their new tyres and put 36 psi them, smaller cars need less pressure, a patrol is twice as heavy as a zook and needs 36 a zook don't.
Also someone questioned what effect if any lower gears would have on popping beads,
heaps,
the lower the gear, the more tourque is applyed, the easier the rim spins on the tyre, there are other factors that make beads fail, pressure, side loads, big right foot and others.
if you can't afford B/Ls at the moment fit some tubes (the correct size) and as you are an ex tyre fitter fit them with water not lube, and have a play with pressures at home let them down to to zero and drive over a brick, see what happens to tyre, and get the tape messure out and make a note of how much diff clearance you sacrify at 2psi.
Happy trails.
Peter.

hey pete got some useless info on tubes for ya a lot of korean made tubes get a prob called carbon black its where the butyl rubber hardens in tiny spots and then pulls small parts out of tube causing unknown punctures after about 5 or so of these ya start to get pretty annoyed
