I tried the breaker bar first.
did you try it with a length of pipe over it for extra leverage?

I had the same prob on one of my fixed shackle pins once. Spent about 2 hours trying to undo the farker and got nowhere.
Out comes the grinder and shes out within 10 mins.
Quick trip to local ARB store and buy new set of fixed pins and i was done.
If this ever happens again, the first thing I'll be reaching for wont be a longer socket bar!

Is it under preasure/load via the supsension? Might be worth having a good look if you going to cut it, to avoid the TWANG effect!!!!

I did try that. I used the handle from my Hi-Lift jack.
Didn't work though.

It is under load as this is the bolt that holds the front of the driver's side leaf pack in place.
I have tried to undo it with the vehicle on the ground also tried it jacked up with chassis stands and the wheel removed with a jack under the u-bolt plate so there was almost no weight on this bolt. Even then the nut won't undo and I couldn't even spin the bolt.
This is going to get cut off. Just have to wait til I can get another bolt before I do that.

when you eventually get the bolt out and replace it, use neverseize on the threads! Do this to all bolts everytime you work on your car.

if you don't want to hurt the bolt, grind the nut nearlty through then undo it with a cold chisel and barnsey agression

I got the nut off!!!!!!!!!!
All it needed was a really long breaker bar and pipe and my much bigger brother to lean on the handle.
Changed the springs too but the 50mm lift that I thought I would achieve only worked out to 10mm once it settled a bit. Bugger. At least everything will be easy to remove next time.

d'oh that sucks - are the springs brand new? can you return them?

Well they came from a wrecker but they seem like pretty good fellas so I might see if I can swap them for a different pair. As these are Jackaroo springs and they seemed to give a 50mm increase in the arch height over the stock Rodeo springs but I got it wrong. But apparently the 6 leaf packs give 2.5 and Nick from this board has actually done it so I guess he is right.
It won't hurt to ask anyway. Hopefully they will have some of the 6 leaf packs in their yard.

I got a few diferent thiknesses of pipe that I can add over each other to get a total of about 3 meters of breaker bar

Just went and measured the new height after driving it for a bit and flexing the rear leafs on some dirt mounds as well as jumping up and down on the towbar. It would seem the height has been increased by a whopping 20mm. Enough to clear the tallest of pebbles.
