wot has the splines got 2 do with it ?? if they needed grindin off u woodnt b able 2 bolt the 2 cases 2gether right ??

Look at the Picture Scott posted. That is a late style input shaft. The early style had a full spline rather than just half as pictured. But where the new style finishes the spline the early style has a slight step up in it so you need to machine down about .5 of a mm off the outside of the spline where it steps up.
