the idea of the brawn winches isn't to be the outright toughest, they are water & crap proof. Drop into brawn & if you know anything about electrics which i know colin does he can fully explain what they do to them

I winch bitched for the Brawn 80 at the Alpine...it ran a Brawn off the shelf (except for the air clutch)...it has also competed in two outback challenges with the off the shelf Brawn winch.

No idea what DAZ is on about.

If im incorrect i appoligise it came up at a 4wd meeting when someone asked what brawn winches are like and it was a statment made by someone that competed in the outback with (him/you) and spectated at the Alpine so as he is a very reliable bloke i have either got my facts wrong or obviosly it is either a differend car, bloke or comp so in that case ill cop it on the chin withdraw the statement and appoligise to for any stress caused to you or any of your imediate family Darren

In saying that i have always stuck to the known brands no matter what it is even though there is quite often better stuff out there because i always by the crap that shits or you carnt by parts for and then replace it with a known brand. Good luck with your Brawn winchs i would like to see a competer out there for warn could only be good for us consumers.

...Ontop of this Colin is currently seriously ill and in hospital for an unspecified time.

Hope he's ok, and has a speedy recovery. He's a nice bloke who I reckon is doing great things for the Aussie 4x4 scene. As said before - more new products the better.

I've laid hands on a non-working Brawn hi-mount prototype at Capital4x4 in Queanbeyan. Good to see the seed is planted though !

As Mudtoy said, Colin advised at OBC he was flat chat with the biz and the hi-mount would be a while but was definately coming.

If it's up to standard other Brawn users have reported it's worth the wait !

we are all human and the difference is being big enough to admit your are wrong at times i spose thanks for letting me off the hook (for now any way) i saw that person yesterday that i got that off but then read this thread later i will however bring it up when i see him next and ask what he said or i got wrong what ever as he too is not a Bu$%t bloke as far as im concerned any way ill find out and set the record straight when that is.
