That realy is a 4 link still. The A frame realy forms 2 links except they connect together.
My hilux was set up this way and i would never have classed it as a 3 link. Range rover rears are like this as standard.

Although i have always found that people have different perceptions of what 3-4-5 link set up are.
Rangies and Patrols etc have 3 link fronts as standard but one link is a panhard rod.
My Tube buggy has 3 Control arms and a panhard rod in the front and i guess i do refer to it as a 3 link with a Panhard rod at times. The Rear is defianatly a 4 link as all the links are seperated.

I'd call the one in the pic a 3 link, simply because there are three pick-up points on the diff housing. Same goes for a 5 link.
The 3 link pictured is trumps, because provided the bushes don't limit articulation, you physically cannot bind a 3 link, where as a 4 or 5 link is physically restricted. Simple geometry.
The 3 links on the front of Patrols are a bit different, because each arm has 2 attachment points under the diff housing, which logically limits the amount that they can flex. A 5 link front can articulate more....
Cheezy seems to be doing a few 'A-Frame' (3 link) rears, that are engineered, and some are registered no probs, but maybe other states have different laws.

doesn't the Mogrover run a triangulated 3 link rear end and a 5 link front end?
