Yeh engineerable & legal may well be 2 different things. Half the cars out there that are engineered prob arnt necessarily legal..

Having said that, a mate got pulled over on way to summer nats in his hilux with 44"swampers.

The coppas pulled him over and the RTA inspected it. He got defected for the tyres saying 18.5 wide and not 12.5 as engineers report said, they also defected him for a oil leak & thats it.

The RTA inspector looked over the car for 1/2 hour (i thought it would go home on a tow truck) but suspension, shackles, bodylift, 10" rims where all on engineers report they just accepted it and let him keep driving to the nats.

Yep the same Sam mentioned bout it 1 night so a pm to bennybigballs happened real quick ..... and yeah its sittin a bit higher now wif a trailer axle under the rear and a timber tressell under the front to keep the water from pooling in the foot wells ;)

ive got spoa wt diffs you can use if needed
if you want it a rolling chassis
its all 100% complete diffs suspension & brakes
and i know where you can pinch wt chassis brackets from :lol:

then ill sell them when you get lux axles ;)

Bubs this was put on the back burner wen i heard of the lwb VITARA-lifted /air locked/and geared /auto/injected for 1500 bucks so this ended up gettin handed over to my old boy..............

who's goin to do a mild build up for a bit of fun and too save a few kays on his 100'series Sorry dude :!:


Yep buggy will eventulate but after I chop and fit some cruiser axles under the vit .......

I took everything into account and i just cant afford a Tow rig at the moment ....the MAV will get either parted out or sold once the vit is done ...then I will start on the buggy or I may play around buildin a buggy frame to keep things moving along :roll: damn time and money :bad-words:

I still think yr 37"s are too big, you just dont have enough weight in the vehicle to make the tyres bag out that much. The zook chassis is tin foil compared to a nissan chassis and diffs. The tyre bagging out is where the most traction, even with lockers is gained. You need serious tyrs flex to mould itself aroung the rock other wise you will just spin which = loss of traction. The difference is

there was 10 pound in the tyres in that pic, dropped them to 5 on the weekend and they work much better. that was the 1st time it had been driven. thanks for the tip tho :P

i actually think the higher the tire (more sidwall the better it would flex)

as u notice that hilux or wateva it is has beadlocks with boggers
so he is prolly running around 2psi
i bet it turns like an absolute bitch being bias and aired down that low

another thing is that chopzuki is coming up a hill as u can see his passanger wheel is off the ground also there is not much weight on the the drive side so how is it goin to bag :?

How are you going to flex it if you dont have the weight. The tyre doesnt just mould itself around anything with high pressure. As you can see in the pic none of the tyres are flexing that much, therefore he is smoking it up and had lost any traction whatso eva.

That was my Gu ute with 38.5 Boggers on 7" beadlock rims @ 3psi. I had Detroit lockers series 4 front and rear. With more experience you will learn how to disingage a Detroit or lockrite or whateva by simply turning the steering and off throttle these lockers are very easy to use and turning is simple. I competed many Nissan trials with them, never had a problem with it, plus those beadlocks never let go, never did the tyre roll off, and you could drive the waterfall tracks at the old Oxford Falls with ease.

buggys are light..... they flex..... it all depends on ur suspension set up, a well set up rig will flex no matter how much they weigh

my god your a tard. i stayed out of the tufftruck thread, but cant stay away from this one.

you're sayin that the tire isn't bagging, MAYBE this is because, like chopzuki said, he was goin uphill and had 10psi in the tires and was in a lighter car. if he had beadlocks and run them at 3 psi like you, they'd bag. probably not as much as the BIAS tires in your pic, on a patrol that weighs another 1000kg compared to his zuk, but havin a heavy-ass pos patrol isnt the best when you want to climb a rockface. no matter how much ya tires bag, ya still gotta move another ton of weight against gravity.

Bwahaha, man ive seen plenty of zooks bagging there tires. Its all about sidewall thickness and the pressure in the tires. Almost any tire with 3psi in it will bag right out. Maybe not as much as that pic but i dont see the point in having your tires that flat except for flat shit where you dont want to much turning ability or any sort of momentum for an object. Are you trying to dint your rims :?

now the below pic, is of a zook, now, RBZOOK, what pressure did you use to run on your stock zook with the old MTR's i dont think it was 3 psi if i remember correctly,

Guys don't turn this thread into a slinging match about tuff truck!

But you can keep arguing about the effectiveness of large tire size on built zook’s because it’s relevant. If large tires aren’t of made of many ply’s then they’ll flex under the lighter zook. Eg Tractor tires mightn’t flex real well without any weight but radial MTR’s will.



PS. I think Tim and Steve did well at Tuff Truck, it’s a pity lack of experience lead to silly safety mistakes. My 2cents. But start a thread in chit chat if you want to argue about the experience needed of people competing at TT.

the test can only be done with 37s, so dont worry about trying with any other size. Show me a pic of yr 37s at 1 psi on rock .
It will differ between tyre brands as some have thicker sidewalls and are harder to bag out, requiring more vehicle weight.
