Finally got the digi camera thing worked out so here's what the 4" dobinsons look like. Actual lift from what it was is 160mm (previous coils really sad.....). Seemslike dobinson shocks could be the way to go, and with the change I could buy a second set to replace the originals if/when they stuff up.

Interesting. Looks lower than my 4" Dob lift. Mine were Heavy Duty springs so it might sit a bit higher. What size tyres are they?

Here is a pic of mine with 35s (315/75 R16s) and it has a 40mm body lift.

Didn't you say 4" lift WITH 40mm BODY LIFT
4" + 40mm = 140mm above std

If you have a body lift then it should loook higher!!!

Um yes... that's why I stated that it had a 40mm body lift

Also why I asked what size tyres dazz mav had on his truck

To me it looks like mine is more than 40mm higher than that lift with all the mods taken into account.

Do you have anything useful to add to this thread or are you just passing time? :finger:

i just got a 4 " suspension on my gq 88 and i think the rancho 9000's and they cost me about the 800 mark !!

dazz mav wrote:I'm finally getting around to upgrading the suspension on my diesel maverick. Ended up getting 4" lifted Dobinson springs. I've got about $800- to spend on shocks and was looking for opinion on best type. I had Rancho RS 9000 on my previous 80 series which were brilliant, never had any probs even after doing 30,000 k's around Oz in 2000. Since then I've read/heard some not so good things about the new 9000X.
What do you guys reakon ??

For anyone who is interested I can sell you Dobinsons shocks for $90 each+ freight for up to 3 inch lift and Procomp for $120 each + freight. Springs are $140 a pair up to 3 inch and $170 a pair up to 7 inch + freight. Hope I can help. Shane at 4WD Stuff.

I wouldn't rush to do a bodylift if you are going to go 35s. I really don't think that I would have any more rubbing without the 40mm bodylift.

See if you can borrow a set of 35s for a flex test before you lift. Often all that is needed is some subtle remoulding of the wheel arches.

With the benefit of hindsight I wouldn't have gone the bodylift.
