trr351 don't be sorry, what you said was good, I can't really dissagree with what you have said and I knew it was general but I just felt I could add to the discussion.

I am interested in your statement about spring bind at full compression. My sagged original rear coils spent more time on the bump stops than off so I assume if the bump stops were removed my car would continue down further before bind but I have not tried this so These shock lengths I quoted would not be Swampers actual shock lengths but just used as an example, but they would be within an inch of the actual rear lengths I would say.

If you want I can post 30mm spring spacers for $25 each including postage to anywhere in Australia. I receive a wapping $4.60 profit.

I am also interested to hear from Swamprr on how it is going?

If your springs are becoming coil bound due to fitting spacers, you need to space the bumb stops down to compensate. If you dont, you will most likely crack the chassis and break the spring perches off, besides reducing spring life.

Im going to do a major upgrade of my suspension in the near future to get it ready for cometition work, im probably looking for 4-6 inch longer springs and shocks to suit...got a 2inch body lift already and 36inch swampers

...il probably see u about this 4WD Stuff !. . . u sound like you know what your talking about in this department.....are you working out of a business or your own home? i live in browns plains area brissy so i can see u about buying some springs/shocks in the near future...got to extend my brakes first but...at the moment im doing some other work to it - front seals / new carby...but probably be no more than a month b4 i do it. . . thanks paul.

you do realise that with 4-6 inch longer springs you will need... among other things...
new or cranked radius and trailing arms
most probably new fr and rr driveshafts
a frame spacers

It is not just a matter of banging the springs in.. and away you go...and on 6" taller springs, you will be very tippy

IMO 36" swampers should fit with 2 1/2" body lift and 2 1/2" spring lift... no need to go that high

There are threads on here discussing what mods you need for longer springs and Landyman will know where they are better than me, if you can't find them.

I can sell you a 3 inch lift or if you want a lot of flex, I have a rear coil that is 530mm free height with a 183 spring rate. This should sit you up 4 inches and is designed for production class competition.
The front is a bit heavier, designed to carry your winch. It has a free height of 500mm and a spring rate of 274. Coupled with Sams slotted bushes, it should work well. If the front proves to be too stiff for what you want then I can exchange or give money back.
I have shocks when you have a better idea with what you want.

I don't have anything higher than this for Rangies unless you want to put lifted Cruiser springs in it and then you are talking bigger lift + mods.

I live at Logan Village and this is where I run my part time 4WD STUFF business from.

If you are going to run 33 inch mud tyres or bigger, then the boys at Haultech Engineering are clued up with strengthening diff (Hilux centres better ratio for bigger tyres), axles,Cv's and options for Lockers and tracton control. (Also at Logan Village). I think it is good to keep Rangie diff clearences. I am more than happy to discuss this further.
