I don't get alot wheel time in the buggy,But when i do i flog the shiat out it..
And the series 3 gears were in my zook long before the buggy came along.
So it has copped a floggin,Used them in NISSAN TRIALS,WOODPECKER,XRCC EVENTS,WILLOWGLEN CHALLENGE,Plus a shite load on social drives..

So when you learn to drive properly you may understand..

I am going to say something with the risk of beeing shot down but i think the way rockhopper handle there warranty claims is pretty piss poor.
They want to say there gears are the best on the market then stand by them.This whole thing that when a set fails getting offended and threatening legal action is crap.
I am still waiting for an answer as to the gears thaat came out of Tim's truck as to wether they are even genuine Rockhopper gears.The gears were baught through BB and I have a receipt that proves that.But they insist that they aren't there gears. I Know that i am not the only person having these same delema's.
This isn't meant to be a personal attack on any individual from BBM just voicing my concern as to the after sales service.

I`m glad someone said it, this no warranty BS is just that. I have no confidence in their product anymore, twice I bought stuff there only to be fkuced over by no warranty, discounted product and poorly made products.
I wont be putting in any zook / Rhopper related driveline gear under my ute. thanks but no thanks, its rubbish.

Well, after destroying my case, my gears survived.

So I am happy with them

A guy from the suzuki club had one fail over the queens birthday long weekend. It was 2 weeks old and broke in highrange.

Just slightly away from the S3 problems but a little info.

I have been running a S1 in my car for 5 years. I bought the case second hand. It has done about 70,000kms.

My zook has twin lockers and a Turbo 1500 twin cam engine with 100kw at the wheels. Now this thing gets absolutly punished as most people know. I think almost everyone has seen the videos

The most damage i have had is broken transfer case mounts and the bolts holding the transfer case together keep coming loose.

As for the S1 it hast missed a beat.

It makes me wonder what has been done different in the manufacture of the S3 to make them so weak.

I have my ideas but i cant prove them. It would be very interesting to get a report done on some failed gears to find out what makes them fail.

I really hope that someone can get to the bottom of this, even though they are sold with no warranty it would be good for people to get more than a couple of drives out of them.

Has anybody got information/experiences to offer in relation to US sourced gear sets. I am in the market to replace a broken set of S3 RH gears (won't ever promote or support the brand ever again) with either 6.4 or 6.5's and am working out what brand to get.

I heard rumours that Marks are looking to produce a gear set, so rang them about two weeks ago to find out if the rumour was true or not. They apparently have them on the drawing board but the earliest that they will have anything available will be in the new year.

my s3 were a month old and they broke i didnt even have a chance to beef up the mounts yet and i also got SORRY NO WARRANTY THATS

Guys, I only do a bit of part time serious driving most of the time My Zook i used for road. I share it with my Daughter, I'm running 31's an was looking at inserting a set of S1 R/H's mainly to bring the Speedo back to were is should be. I'm running a 1.6L 16v EFi and when i go offroad it gets a flogging. Have people been having as bad a time with the series one Rockhoppers, or do they seem to hold up ok?

Tim, a couple of things here:
1. A low range gear set will not correct your speedo, it will assist in correcting your ratios. If you were looking to correct your speedo that would have to be done via the ratios of your speedo drive. To my knowing there isn't anything on the market which will do this for you.
2. In regards to the Series 1 Rockhopper, if anything it has created more drama than the Series 3. The only reason why you don't hear of too many breakages with this model these days is that it is not on the market at present, as it was withdrawn because of how many breakages were happening.

with regards to gears and how hard or soft they are, i would imagine you could go to a mechanical engineer or a machine shop with the propper testing equipment to find out what has been done, also find what the gears are made of specifically.

If you go to any instument repair place, and ask for a "ratio box" to suit your application they will build you one.

im waiting on calmini 6.5:1's. Been waiting on them a few months now. Apparently i ordered them the week after they ran out. im told i should have them by end next week, will see... As for RH's, i had a S1, flogged it, only issue was occasionally got stuck in L2. The guy who bought the car off me jumped it 6ft by 30ft, thats when it broke, along with many other components. I was told Calmini warrant upto a certain tyre size, 32''?

Philton, what are the 6.5:1's costing you and who are you getting them from?

im getting them thru Kaos. Were originally $1400 to my door, but theyre bringing that down as its taken a while. Was going to import them myself, but figured it may be easier if i have any issues to deal with locals rather than US. Calmini have only had them in stock for 3 weeks now.

this was the reply i got from calmini this morning. I am asking them direct now if they will warrant on my vehicle, prob not. I am guessing that as long as its all/mostly suzuki, they will warrant them upto 35s', going by what hes said above. Good news for some...

Calmini have said they will warrant their gears in my vehicle. They also have alot of belief in their product, & also say they never have breakage issues. So, assuming they honor it, i have a lifetime warranty on 6.5:1s. Id prefer to spend the money locally, but hey, lifetime warranty...

Life time warranty versus no warranty, better ratio, and only $151.00 more ($1249.00 v $1400.00)....................it's a pretty simple choice!!!

It's not as if the company here promoting the Australian version have an Australian made set of gears.
