tyres for beach

every time this subject comes up all you here is people say "air em right down and anything will work." Or mud's / boggers, are the best but let em down to 12 or what ever. Well no shit, the worst combo possible will work air right down.
The question still remains what tyre works best under the same pressure/tyre size. Agessive or non agressive.
I beleive a non agressive tyre works better. peronally.
I also agree a tall skinny tyre works better.
The height gives you the extended footprint when aired down.
where as a wide tyre makes for more sand to move out of the way for very little extra footprint.

When you're driving in soft sand your tyres are continually pushing a small amount of sand in front, then climbing it. Pushing that sand uses power. Narrower tyres will push less sand, so require less power to push.
My experience:
When I first bought my Paj I took it for a run on the beach at Noosa. With stock 265/70-15 Yokohama H/Ts I drove onto the beach, up and down the beach, back off the beach and back home. All at highway pressures, never once threatened to bog down.
After experiencing the Yokos miraculously becoming racing slicks the first time they saw mud I decided to upgrade. 31x10.5 S/Ts were great on fire trails, but loved to dig in sand - made very hard work of it. Until I let them down to 24psi, where they were excellent.
MT/Rs and STTs I've always reduced to 20psi before hitting sand. Never been stuck, or even thought it was close to being stuck.
