We flopped a V8 once..

Got it upright again, pulled the plugs on the downhill side, nothing..

Better check the cylinders on the uphill side.. pulled those plugs, cranked it over, and oil shot about 4 feet!

Never did figure out how oil got past the pistons, when facing upwards after the flop.

You can't be too careful!

No doubt an engine can can hydrolic from oil and no doubt that all of the above should be checked etc.


But on start up at idle revs I cannot see a decent engine hydrolicing badly enough to bend conrods, IMO it would kick and die.


But if you aren't a psycho seat jockey like Hypo I would definately check the above just to be sure...


My only worry would be a diesel if it lightly copped some oil and started "dieseling", but IMO this wouldn't happen if there was enough oil there to bend rods.

Just my semi-informed 2 cents, flame me if you can prove better.

Fluids
Spark plugs(in your case)
Steering
Brakes(triple check before driving home)

hrmmm... ive rolled the homeless quite a few times...

the thing is...

as soon as you've rolled it.. i mean totally upside down.. try to turn the thing off as fast as you can.. or the engine will run on its own oil... then booom - time for a new motor)

on its side.. thats alright.. dependin on the situation.. drive it out.. or push it back on its wheels.

check fluids, and crank it over maybe 2 or 3 times.. very short.. to allow the motor to turn over incase theres chance of hydralicing it...

then if all is good.. start it.... its gunna blow heaps of smoke as oils gone into the valves... and should clear up eventually..

Rolled my Mav last year. Went right over back on the wheels again. Started it straight up again, no worries. 4.2 petrol motor. Then drove it home.
