I would expect that the turbos would be pretty small... the one on my engine has a fan (for lack of a better term) that is approximately 40 - 50mm in diameter... so it's pretty small...
in fact i get a lot of 'does anyone have a microscope and some tweezers' type comments when the hood is up on the car.

Do you have any pics of your engine? Ive been looking for a small turbo for a long time but in my country they are very hard to find. Somthing like a charade or starlet turbos. How much did it cost the entire turbokit and the instalation? How much psi is it blowing?

Your impeller is very small ( 40-50mm) as is its housing. My last car was a 500HP 300 ZX twin turbo. When it was standard, the factory turbos wouldn't start to make any boost till 3500. Thats pretty high in the revs to START boosting. When I fitted the high flow garret ball bearing units, they were capable of flowing 50% more air, so you would expect alot more ;lag. But due to the higher quality components used, it came on full boost just 300rpm later than the factory units. Because this 1.6 is a 'V' configeration, you can pretend that it is 2 800cc motors side by side. Therefor the turbos would be slightly bigger that yours greg, But they would not have been restricted to the same manufacturing budget as a mass produced engine like yours. The result is a larger than expected turbo, with high flowed housings, larger impellers, ball bearing inserts, carbon rings and seals for high temp etc etc and a very early spool up, giving higher, sustained boost throughout a larger portion of the rev range.

Max, i'm not sure if this will help you, but there are some shots on this japanese site of a fellow who is building up his F6A/K6A jimny motor...
http://www.geocities.co.jp/MotorCity-Ra ... index.html
some of the links show the fitment of a new turbo onto it too - but i don't know what it's out of, and i don't speak japanese either.
Cheers

I have been searching for a photo I had of a bloke in the US that makes v8 race engines for scadoos they put out 350hp and the dimensions were something like 18 inches long 14 inches wide and 16 inches tall'
I'll keep looking.

If most oif the V8's are to big .. why not a nice light alloy blocked V6 like the Nissan VG30 they cost about $600 for a complete motor .. about $1200 for a front cut .. If you blow it up .. just replace the entire motor with another good runner from a wrecker.
Hmm whole motor\gearbox (auto) and T/case from a pussfinder with rockhopper gears .. plenty of power and lotts of strength .. No idea if it could actually be made to fit

hey! thanks for all the info about the engine. And Thanks for the translation website too.
BTW, who owns that zook? It looks like a mix between a hummer and a mercedes benz. Is he trying to do a 10sec drag rocket or just the ultimate zuk? That guys spent some serious money on it.
If any of you had to choose between the F6A/K6A and the 1.6 16v EFI, wich would you choose? I'm just making plans for the future because in my coutry, getting the 1.6 efi is pretty easy and the k6a is a bit harder to get, but still doable.

I would imagine that the 1.6 would almost plug straight into your car... in comparrison to the F6A or K6A which would be a lot of work...

without the gearing options of the sierra (6:1 transfre case gears that drop high range some 22 to 23% as welll as diff gears dropping from 3.73 to 5.13 etc) the cappo motor would most lilkley not be a terribly good swap as it would be operating way out of it's powerband. As well as issues with gearbox and T/case (as the vit tcase and gearbox are all "one piece" unlike the sierra where the gearbox and T/case are tied together by a driveshaft ..
The 16v 1.6 EFI motor in a vit would be a much more sensible swap .. Also one of the reaons greg did it was he was looking at diet wheeling, wanting to run the lightest sierra he could sensibly do ... and a 3 cyl 660cc motor certainly fits that bill
