i made my own loom as well, i did this mod a bit over 12 m onths ago, i used 4 realays, each relay is fused, and for the relay switching, i used each original plug, and not just one like the diagram on the other forum shows,
and it is brilliant, i love it

I'm pretty sure my Safari is positive switched, not negative.
I haven't got a multimeter on there to confirm that yet, but I will do.
Any Safari owners confirm that for me?

Also I'm gonna use fused relays, like this one:
http://db.hella.com.au/cgi-bin/catalogu ... lmaint=191
Saves the extra hassle of wiring up fuses
I'm tempted to use just two 5 pin relays cos I'm lazy, but the point the dude on the LR site makes is if you do that then you could lose both headlights if a fuse or relay blows...........which would be pretty scarey.........so I guess I shouldn't be lazy!

I made a loom up from scratch last weekend for my gq ute.
new reflectors, wire, globes, relays etc cost < $100
took 2 of us all afternoon.
took our time cause we were only doing it once !!
left all the original loom in place.
all worked first time.
Bloody made a HUGE difference.
Absolute chalk and cheese difference.
low beams are must whiter.
high beams light up ground so much better. I now have to adjust my driving lights UP a bit to compensate.
One of the best mods Ive done to my ute !!!
