The maths is simple. $1100 + $1100 + $350 (comp) + $400 odd for fitting = around 2.8k at least wouldn't you say? You have to look at my other posts to see I was talking about front and rear. I was quoted a higher price for air lockers from ARB.

Now buying 8 units form the US and shipping them here????? I still reckon I'd be in front. Buying 8 units would score a fairly good discount don't you think?

I believe the LSD from the old Datsun 280zx (L28) was also a C200... Should be able to pick one op cheap from a wrecker?

I wont take sides in this ill just produce some facts and my prefference.

At the end of the day you really do get what you pay for.

There is a reason Why Auto lockers are cheaper, its because there isnt anywhere near the amount of detail and componantry in them....

An Auto locker will unload and load and unload and load, everytime it does it it locks your diff and puts drive the the other axle spline. The shock load on the spline of your axle spline ( rear ) or on your CV ( front ) is immense and causes stress fractures and breakages...

Not to mention on road driving, you get load up and excess stress when its not required.

An ARB air locker or the newer TJM Pro Locker are superior as you can turn them off and turn them on.
The stress is only there whlie you have it on, and you never get the unload and load up shock through your componantry when switch on.

You get what you pay for, ARB lockers are far more complicated, tested and proven and thats y they are the most popular locker as they work a treat.

There are alot of half hearted ppl when it comes to auto lockers.

I would sooner weld my centre then use and auto locker as at least its always on, with the arb it can be always off......
What cuases the breakagess it the stress and shock as the auto kicks in...

To give an example of my theory, My rear ARB air locker Air soleniod was playing up on my first run out, the thing had a o ring problem and was seating and un seating itself.
I was giving a rock ledge ago, trying to drive, and my Long side rear axle kept gripping on the spline and not gripping. i wasnt aware of the problem until the compressor kept coming back on, but by that time it was too late, driving the ledge i sheired my axle spline off... it was the loading up and unloading shock on the spline that snapped it.

I think that Auto lockers are a cheaper alternative and really are not worth a pinch of salt. When you buy an Air locker, you only spend the money once, and Breakages are far less........

I personally would never run an Auto locker even if they were given to me.

The $269 for the locker you pointed out is in US dollars. Thats $365 australian. Plus import duty's and fitting Lets say another $360. Thats $725 each Multiply that by 8 = $5800 not $2800. you should do some research before you go trapping off.
Besides the topic was an lsd for a C200. If you haven't any info for that Go mess someone elses thread up with your dribble.

Are you not talking about an ARB air locker you had? Sure as hell sounds like it. And it also sounds like you had it on full time. Everyone knows that you don't even have your hubs locked in on a hard surface, letalone a locker!

And for your information I can pick those lockers up for as little as $US127 new. So blow it out your bum.

i priced an air locker for my gu (front) fitted was $1800 i had a pathy lsd fitted by harts transmissions drive in drive away for less than half that. and believe me i am so happy with it. yes its not an air locker but i reckon its the next best thing!!! :)

Thats about the same as I was quoted for an air locker.
