I was bored and stumbled across this. I have a welded front diff in my patrol. I just run one hub locked in and then lock the other when i need the extra traction.
Am i happy with this mod . BLOODY OATH MATE. Yeah it pulls to one side like a
but just hold the wheel tighter. I still binds up occansionally on rocks etc, But only turn whilst moving like an old tractor without power steer. on sand etc ya can just run it full locked as the inside wheel will loose traction easily.
I have never driven a locked rear but i cant imagiine id would beat a front locked. I love the way it pulls the whole 4by sideways in search of traction and when it finds it up she goes no worries at all
Anywayz, Im happy with it and heaps of people i have spoken to are as well. So for the $1500 i saved i can buy a few extra CV's and alot of Piss.
Have fun

Locked fronts increase your turning radius majorly, and also the effort to turn the wheel. You will get good arm muscles from it. Though having dual lockers, its awesome!!!!!!!! To weld diffs you just weld the side and spider gears together. Its a good idea to weld old scrap plate and stuff in there too, make it real strong.

i might be pulling out my front diff and welding it up tomorow (i pulled the gearbox out this arvo and need to wait for a new clutch kit), so while i am bored waiting after i order a new clutch kit, i might as well attack the diff.
to anyone thats already done their feroza, is there enough slide movement in the shafts to click them out of the diff center enough to remove the diff center with-out having to unbolt the diff housing?
cheers.

Nice work. I smashed CV's in my rocky, never axles though. I have a spare inner front (short side) axle in my garage i think from my old f75.
