New Hilux mod tips please...

they are very soft on rebound, can't put my finger on it yet, also a boing noise on compression on undulations in sand

once my neck is better i'll go out again with someone and try and see what the front end is doing

xrdave is that a custom hard cover?? that is very cool how it pops up like that, all u need to do is put some canvas around the out side and u have a very nice place to sleep

yeah aust 4wd insurance is organsing it all

Yep i was told that recently.

I've got the bigger tyres and am thinking 2" lift in the future should be enough for me

yeh its an import from Thailand its called a TOPUP.

Oh cool dude, cost ya much?

Some of u guys have mentioned to me that the ARB winchbar is heaps 'sexy' and is more rienforced, so i went down to the local store and checked one out.
Yep, u guys are right

Went and saw the Toyota dealer and told him to scrub the factory bar of the contract and do the change. Cause Toyota gets the bar cheaper than i would, i got the saving as well. Also got a set of IPF Extereme 'spot' and 'spread' lights. Saved heaps over what ARB would have charged me over the counter.

Am heaps happier now

The cover has one keyed lock and it can be used
up or down. When locked in up position it should
hold 80kgs so i was told.

Can anybody tell me if 265/75R16 fit under the guards of an 05 (new model) SR5 without any rubbing under compression or when turning . Thanks B.

265/75/16 is the biggest we have fitted without bodylift, on 80 series ofset rims, and they had our 60mm lift fitted as well. The mud flap just needs a fixing back to the body mount outrigger behind it, to stop the tyre touching on the lock.

Have also done afew on 265/70/17's on 17 x 7.5 120 prado rims.

A little bit of work, and a body lift as well and 285's just squeeze under.

I to have a new Hilux its a Black SR5 Dual Cab V6, havent done any mods yet still waiting for the after-market guys to catch up, am very keen on getting in touch with ATS about the suspensions they sound the go.

Anyway heres some pics

You wont be disappointed, Love my truck its great to drive and its the first car I've had with real power (V8 like).

Just sent of an email to ATS4x4 for a price and possible delivery to Sydney for suspension will let you know how I go.

I'll be watching your build up and the other 2005-06 Hilux's very closely

When the Hilux arrived early june 2005 there wasn't
alot of accessories around.

Tyres and suspension were the first things i changed
on the hilux.
2" King springs (front), rear springs are standard.
Bilstein shocks, and BFG's 31/10r/15 tyres on the
standard alloy rims, drives and handles alot better.

Did a trip to Cape Yorke in sep/oct 05, handled it well.
I lifted the front because thay look to low. I dont put to
much weight in the back so it's not a real problem.

From what i can remember:

2" H/Duty King Springs, for the extra weigh (bar,winch,deep cycle battery)

Front shock are 120series Prado Bilsteins
Rears are either 75 or 79series Landcruiser Bilsteins?

The ride so much better than standard, onroad and offroad.
Driving on very bad roads in Queensland, i feel alot safer.
The Hilux has done 25,000km's, from Bisbane to Cape York
and every where in between.
As for cost of suspension and labour around $1400.

As for ARB and OME suspension, i don't like, i had very serious issues with suspension in another 4B.

I can't help myself more pics.

05 Lux and 120 fronts are different, early on; suspension places flogged 120 struts cos there was no 05 Lux struts.
