I usually just throw all the straps in the wash tub, fill it up, swish it around getting off excess dirt. Repeat this a couple of times, throw it in the washing machine with washing powder (as you would with clothes) and hang on line when dry. Most of us do it that way, straps still going strong.

Carlovers does the job for me, if i go out and it gets filthy i just lay it out flat on the ground in the carwash bay hold the nozzle about 2in away from the strap on high pressure rinse spray 1 side flip it over spray the other give the ends a good spray double it over till its short enuff to wring out then take it home and throw it on the line till dry.MAV
