no. swap output shaft in auto over to short shaft and bolt the whole lot together. the adapter takes the 700 up to the same length as the patrol 5-speed, so the transfer case and tailshafts stay where they are.
that will be the easy part of the job. the rest will just be fiddly stuff.

What a about a turbo on a TB42? Have seen one dynoed at over 200 kw @ rear wheels. No doubt engine was modifed but even with miminal mods and low boost would be close to a VN 5.0.

You should use Nissan engines in Nissans! The VH45 is a beautiful thing, why put a second rate motor in your car when you have the option of using a VH!
The VH45 conversion is easy. Buy the motor with the infiniti gearbox. Swap the output shaft from a Patrol auto into the infiniti box and bolt on the transfer case. Make one engine mount and modify the gbox x-member and bolt the engine in. Change the tailshaft lengths by 100mm. The hardest part of the conversion is swapping the alternator and power steering pump around so the engine fits between the chassis rails, and you have to mount the AC compressor on the LH side but it will only take a few hours. You need to have a new exhaust made I just added two turbos while I was there and voila - engine swap done... The electricals are easy on the Nissans too.
I have done over 50 000kms in mine now and it has been awesome!

decided to go for the 5.0 litre V8..... it's a known thing, plenty of tech out there for it..... got a motor for $1,800 for everything, including extractors..... got the adaptor kit ordered (thanks Tiny!) should start on it around the 8th of April.
