Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.
Parts list so far are full ea cfi loom with ecu, throtle body (will have to move idle control motor), dizzy is a stand aloan hall effect from a 253/308 holden (just put the insides into the p76 dizzy) but you can use the ford ea dizzy and just find a 8 window spinner, ford oxy sensor placed where both pipes come together, hope to use stock air cleaner and stil working on the fuel pump setup but a mate has a cfi fuel tank with pump so i will just sit it nearby to test run.
all so don't forget the coolent sensor and air tep sensor, may need the speedo sensor as the system changes when the speed drops off.

Yes hall effect is needed for the ecu, there is a thing on the side of the ford dizzy that sends a signal to the ecu and then the ecu sends a signal back to work the coil.
the dizzy should have no advance at all as the ecu does it.
you will need to find a 8 window for the dizzy with all the same sized legs. the mpi 6 and some ford v8 have one smaller than the others so the ecu knows where number one cyl is. ( i hope the cfi wont care how many cyl there are)

Tomorrow i hope to find a chunk of alloy to make the adapter or i will have to make do with steel ( wish i lived in melbourne).
So i hope by sunday it will be all most ready, Then comes the fuel pump setup ( Hope to have it started sometime next week will borrow a mates spare ea fuel tank for that )

I guess the auto nuetral switch is for starter lockout, but the clutch switch ? why not use the ford air temp sensor .Rangie Thing wrote:There is a clutch switch and a gearbox neutral switch ( don't know how i will get around that one yet.
Made the adapter plate and spacer plate just need to see the shops tomorrow to get some more bits.
I am thinking about not fitting the air temp sensor and just useing a trimpot setup.

The auto has a lockout switch that has a jumper added but the manual gearbox also has a neutral switch plus the clutch switch ( lots of switches )
As for the air temp sensor a mate of mine has a stuffed air temp sensor in his feroza so a trimpot was fitted, turning the pot back tricks the ecu that cooler air comming in so it puts more fuel in ( you can feel the extra go
)
Here is the latest pic still need the throttle cable bracket work and idle motor ,wiring.

haven't spent much time with it of late too much on the go.
But so far all bolted on, acelarator cable on ( clip is the same as rangie ) if mine had a rangie cable in it.
will have the idle motor on tomorrow night, then its just the electrics to work on and the idle motor foot to make.
so hope to have it running by this weekend, i hope!!
