I have no idea what the front diff is.

I assume it isn't stock as the vehicle can corner with sufficient speed to lift the inside front wheel and when it hits the ground it sets off a skipping motion unless you get off the gas. This has been going on fro 11 years. I've tried different shocks 1 & 2 per corner, different spring rates all to no avail.

Todate this hasn't resulted in any breakages so i figure it must be something tough.

The vehicle wears front tyres at twice the rate of rear tyres!

This is our old race car!

It won the National Division of the Australian Safari in 1994.

I usually drive an ML320, Porsche 911 or Mercedes CLK500. I don't drive too fast in a straight line but the twisty bits are the fun bits.

I've had full bodied RR's lift a front wheel in the past. I guess I need to look at my driving habits?

No need to look at your driving habits .. they sound fine to me. We used to drive around round-a-bouts in old Rangies as fast as we could (nobody around of course  ) and lift the inner front wheel off the deck ..... huge fun :D

Sounds like you Rangie is a bit of a hottie being an ex safari winning truck .. post up a picture.

 yep, never had a problem twenty years ago with my front D30 in my old CJ with 31's..... ;)
Uhm, maybe that was a bad example - I'm on my 4th U-joint/shaft right now, and I'm only rocking 30's!

(Let's not talk about the rearend) :D
D35's don't count. ;) At least my old CJ had a D44 rear and it only weighed 1500kg fully loaded over the weighbridge :D

Jeep are like Land Rover, the more modern stuff is no where near as beefy out of the box.

Cool  . The rig looks great. How's the auto treating you? Well I hope.

I was going to respond to your comment on page 1 of this thread re the lexus motor pushing big horses throught the Torqueflite .. what dd you say ... around 550 or something? Anyway, I was going to make a smart arse crack about how the 550 would translate to oohh I don't know .. say 100 after the torqueflyte takes it toll on the horsepower :)

But now that I know it's the one I sold you through Joe, I can't say that now can I (... oooh bugger I think I already have :D )? Anyway, they are a very strong gearbox as you already know I'm sure. Anyway it will be good to see the old bushie in action again .. what event are you aiming to take it into next?

Simo,

The drag strip.

I want this to turn 12's!

I've had it off road once in the last 6 years.

I don't have the time but I love working on the car.

I'm too old to race and have too many responsibilities so retired I'll remain.

I haven't used the trans yet I'm just about to get it in the car. It now has no bellhousing and runs a full manual valve body!
