OK next battery problem. I took the old battery out as it was spewing out the acid even though it would still start the car from cold no worries. Bought myself an Exide N70ZZ Endurance 4x4 battery 600CCA. When the car is cold (its on gas) it has to crank for up to 7-8 seconds before it will fire as a rule. With this new battery it wont fire at all. If I jump it from the auxilliary no problems away she goes. Then I disconnect jumper and start again, no worries. All day it will be fine, next morning wont fire until I jump it. When I put the battery in I cleaned all the leads in Baking soda and they were clean as. But the internal light was as dim as and the battery wouldnt barely turn the car over. Bastards sold me a flat battery I thought. Whacked it on the charger all night, still wouldnt start it - existing problem. I went on a trip to Walhalla yesterday and it run all day no problems thought that would give it a nice deep charge. .Oh no, tonight (its not been driven since last night) wont start. I noticed on the Dash Voltmeter than when cranking the volts drop to 8 but when I jump the Auxillairy across it only drops to 10 while cranking. Have I been sold a stuffed battery. I dont believe there is anything draining it because the problem started as soon as the new battery went in. The old battery is 640 CCA and the Auxialliary is 660CCA is the new exide at 600CCA inadequate to start the car, or is it maybe just a dud. If I turn my gas switch to off so no fuel and crank you can tell its got no ooomph I tried this yesterday when I had been driving for 6 hours so it would have been fully charged up again.

It sounds like you need to go back to where ever you got the battery and get them to test it and possibly replace it.
You are sure having some fun there.
Cheers.

could be a dud battery its not uncommon, chek the date of manufacture on the battery, it might be around the+ terminl or on the edge of the lip.

FUN FUN FUN, thats a 4x4. Yeah I cleaned up th etray area and primed and painted it all red, it looks beautiful just wont do anything... I am sure I have had straight N70ZZ before youd reckon it should start a car. How low would you expect the volt meter to drop with the drain of cranking over a car?

should not drop below 10 volts while crankin i would say around 11 for petrol and about 10 for the diesels.

Dont want to worry you but........ I have just had a new regulator, new battery, and alternator checked and a week after putting the new battery in it started to bubble again and had half the plates showing.. it was also checked out by an auto elec and was pronounced "Alls well" Im at a loss as to what the problem is... the only thing i can come up with is i got sold the wrong kind of regulator.. and under high revs its letting too much juice through and boiling the battery? its the external type (2h diesel)

Whichever way I look at this, I think the most reasonable explanation is dud auto elec.
Try another.
Scott (fully prepared to apologise to unnamed auto elec when I'm proved wrong - again.

a reg controls voltage, unless he put and old 1 in, i have come across alot of dud auto elecs in my buisness, unless he did a load test on the battery, i dont no how he could of said its ok, is it only 1 or 2 celss that r bubling? or the lot of them? and if only 1 or 2 cells r dry you got a buggered battery.
