Because they are soooo flexible, the aeroz flares (which are the ones I was talking about) can be mounted much higher than this and still look fine. On the last car I fitted them to, the flare is notched around the fuel filler and the indicator repeater. Mounted like this, they can cover a huge virtual lift with a real "nothing going on here officer" look to them.

They are the only flare I have seen that is flexible enough that there is no need to take them off when offroad.

They seem to hold paint pretty well too.

The Aeroz flares are priced at $575 for a set of 4 if anyone wanted to know how much I was quoted. By comparison they are more reasonably priced than say, Trail Tough. I think they look pretty good. Except the shiny metal studs (I can't remember, but they look like rivets) which to me look a bit industrial... thats just my opinion though. If I had these I'd probably use black bolts or spray them if they're rivets. What did you use to attach yours Gwagensteve?

I dont think they even come with bolts, most people I know have used self tappers. some people have used various styles of bolts.

Pirhana supply rivets I think which are not adequate IMHO, and not removable.

I have seen them installed with really big self tappers, but the set I recently installed on a clubmembers car was with 6mm nutserts and 6X25mm stainless steel button head cap screws.

This is a farily expensive way of doing it but is very neat and durable. (and easily removable)

Plain black bolts will rust in no time.

The Aeroz flares are soft enough that if you don't install every screw, they really sag and look crap.

Munga, sorry if it was a joke on your part, but if you have spent any time struggling with these on the interior on any japanese car, you would know better than trying to mount flares with them.

At least the flares wouldn't get damaged off road beacuse they would fly off well before you got there! they don't provide enough tension IMHO to hold something as heavy as a flare or withstand much wind loading.

They are a PITA to remove if you needed to get the flares off and with a thick flare/thin panel I don't think they would be very effective (the aeroz flares are about 6mm thick at the bolt holes.\

The aeorz flares will take massive abuse and spring back. The mounting needs to be pretty strong or it will rip out and you will loose the flare.
