yeah prolly true.....its not that i dont not listen its that i just cant be bothered with all ur rantin about wat have yas...

i have read everythin on this post tho....

the main reason being that there is a lot of EFFORT in gettin an engine and swapping it...especially when the one i got is is relatively new and still goes sweet

If you've got two transfers and Lo Lo gearing do you need the extra power? If your current engine is ok then do you really want to bugger around with it? IN MY OPINION The benefit you are going to get from a 253 is not worth it if your car is performing ok ATM. If your engine was rooted and you were getting a 253 for free or had one sitting there then it would be a considerable option.
One last thing, a Torana is Half the weight of your hilux which means it will be like reducing the power by approximately 33%.

Settle down mate, Flynn was asking for opinions of a 253 conversion and he is obviously interested in a V8 conversion at the moment.
I'm under no illusions of what a 253 in a Hilux is like. My mate in Adelaide has one and I knew a farmer who had one. Both were a lot more capable on and off road than the 4cyl non turbo deisel.

Torana is around 1100kg. A Hilux is around 2200kg unladen??? What model?

I agree with you about not messing with ya motor if its good and yes the 308 is better than a 253 but he was asking about a 253.
I got my Bundy without a motor and i'm putting a 350 in it. Why? Because it's the best? No, because I already had a good runner I got cheap and it'll be a damn sight better performer than the 22r it originally had plus, I'll do it because I want to.
