This is too easy, get both!
put the air locker in the front and hide the switch were the missus can't see it (she will never know it is there), fit the winch out front and buy her a voucher for a manacure, tan and a brazilian,
tell her that her happiness is more important to you than a silly old diff lock and it will be a win, win, win situation, then in a few months when she has forgotten about the winch tell her you found a great deal on some 42" super swampers, don't buy them instead go get her another voucher and tell her that her happiness is more important to you than some silly old tyres
