Yeah but all these Sawtrons and 8030's are getting to the age of about 15+ years and sure, if they're in great nick great! But if they were ex-lease as most are they need a bit of work and are starting to fall apart. Go the Motorola or Tait :)

I cant comment on the icom as I've never had one or used one but I think my GME 4400 is the beezneez for me. $560 all up with ABL002 aerial.
More features than I'll probably ever use but you never know.

the unidens are a great radio..but some have been know to only output 3.9 watts factory and yet claim 5 and flimsy electronics and dials and shit really for a 4b piece of shite but in a townie car say for the missus etc they aint bad the i com are used by the aussie military and also they use the landrovers in the military for the power to wieght ratio even with a load they are a good unit ...as for all the comercial radios they are far supirior but also the cost comes into the factor for the price the i coms are the best on the market

I have a Icom 400 pro software change so I can use either 5W, 11W or 25W rf output I just leave it on 25W other than that great radio.
