Re: Maxxis Mudzillas
I do, that why I said you would have no problem. Aired down to about 6psi and they go anywhere. Use Nissan rims, I have ROH trak rims (beadlocked) and do not get any rubbing at all, I'll get a photo of the travel in the rear and front to give you an idea of the potential.nh_pajero wrote:has anyone had the Maxxis Mudzillas on there truck and did they fit ok cause they are 33"X13.5"?

You will fit 35" Mudzillas to a GEN II 3.5L V6 or 2,8TD, with a 2" body lift and 2" suspension lift (along with some remodeling of the rear of the front guard).
The 3.5 V6 still has plenty of grunt to turn the tyres, but certainly handles differently from the 32" BFG's it had on !! Doesn't drag the rear diff on the ruts now like it did !

Yes they are the 35x13.5x15 Mudzillas. Remember the 13.5 is the width of the tread pattern (which goes well down the sidewall) so the tyre is not actuallly 13.5" wide. The actual width of the 13.5" Mudzillas is nearer 12.5".
The spare is a 32x11.5x15 so you can see the difference there. I need to pick up a 2nd hand 35" BFG for the spare (or something that will fit on the rear door mounting)
The tyres are right in line with the guards/sidebars so should meet our NZ warrant standards, however if not, will just require small flexiable guards fitted.
Havn't beadlocked the tyres yet, still looking at which option best.
The side bars are customised (by J Top).

Give Brian Howat a call in Naenae (Howat engineering), does them for $80 a rim last time I asked. They do the beadlocks specifically for the Maxxis as the bead is bigger than other makes. I run a tube aswell, some say you don't need it and others say it is a good idea, each unto their own. A friend of ours had the second air beadlocks on his truck but for some reason he kept having problems, could of been the way they where installed. The tyre was still pushing off the bead. He did comment about an expensive way to loose money ! Can't beat $80!Kiwijero wrote:

Truck looks good though How much of an angle are the C.V's on in the front? I take it you have had the ball joint flipped, if so did you add a spacer or just go for the basic? Having the fuel tank (rear quarter) lifted also helps with departure angle. Looks like JTop has done that aswell! Again Nice Truck

Thanx for the info on that it looks good but i think ill go the 33" X 13.5" i only have the 3.0L

Overkill.... Thanks for the recommendation re beadlockers.... probably the way I will go just for simplicity (and cost). The CV angle is reasonably easy, and I have fitted Aisin manual hubs to reduce boot wear. So far so good !! it has had a ball flip with no spacer, and the upper bumpstops trimmed. The rear chassis has been cut and Lifted to match the 2" lift in the body and so lifts the fuel tank 2" too. Its still starting to get a beating tho. !
Yes J Top has done all the work.... I am no Engineer However really pleased with how it has come out.
nh_pajero..... I am sure you will be pleased with the 33" mudzillas. They seem to grip well and have a great "in ur face" look.

Have just picked up my spare rim from Howat engineering, $100+gst. It was only for one though, may be cheaper if you get four or five done. Tyres are also cheap around the corner on Cambridge Tce at NaeNae tyres, Rob does a good deal on all his range, I got a 33" Mudzilla for $300.incl. Enjoy

That is an incredibly overpriced spacer. Here is my pictures of the ball joint flip I did yesterday. I haven't put a spacer in but the 10mm bolts (I drilled out the holes for bigger bolts) were about $10. So that makes for $185 spacers......
Go to your local engineer and get him to make something. I'm going to take a spare top arm in and get a couple made, I can't see the'd be expensive, Maybe I'd look at getting a heap made.

I don't want my C.V's doing much more stretch than what I already have.
