Sounds like a good idea Mick but you have to consider the practicalities. Two lots of rego, two lots of insurance, two POS’ to maintain, two places to garage/park them… It can be done if you have the cash but most will have to compromise with one. I’m no fortune teller but it seems Chunkz is a normal fella with not a lot of spare cash floating around [not yet anyway]…..bigmick wrote:why not keep the siera and get a 5 or 6 grand hulix or patrol.
i wish i had a siera.

Get a good V6 SR5 4 Runner if you are into Surfs. The surf is just a pretend 4 Runner.
My 4 Runner goes a lot of places in Vic, even before I modded it.
I do wish I had got an 80 but you live and learn and the 4 Runner is a good Lux sized wagon as well as having very good road manners around town.
But like everyone else says "BUY A HOUSE AS SOON AS YOU CAN".
I was 36 before I bought one, had I started earlier I would own it by now.
Just start off within your money range you don't have to buy the best house in town.
Cheers Struth.

mine's just been unreliable and its an aussie spec 87 sr5 petrol 2.2 auto.......... painfully slow
The actual design of the vehicles is great but I got the worst driveline combo imaginable. All the mechanical probs have been related to the auto box and the fact that its on lpg
Buy a surf man you'll love it Don't get an auto

Pity about the 2.2 and the auto.
The V6-5spd goes ok four a 4B and returns average 12.5 l per hundred K around town if you keep max revs to about 3000rpm. No good for towing though. It also has excellent Hi way manners for long trips.
Maybe I got a goodun, maybe you got a badun
Only real drama I've had is a leaking rear diff (fixed it) and engine oil leak (not gunna pull the motor for a few drips a night on the drive).
Cheers Struth.

surfs can be very reliable just depends on how they are treated.

that is the surfers bible area.
Best surf to buy is a KZN130 its a 3.0TD shit loads of power.
The IFS is a hold up point if you are after alot of travel but if you are after a hardcore wheeler you wouldnt really be looking at surfs. Although they kick ass with a SASed front.
I owned a 4Runner 2.8 SR5 TD (aftermarket) done off roading very well. There is not much diffence between the 2 surfs and runners. Personally I hate petrol 4bys diesel all the way
