Looks great, Barrel bolt looks a cheapo though and I wouldn't trust it on tracks either. some sort of over centre latch may have been stronger.

Number plate light??

Boys in Blue will get you for this pretty quick.

Yeah, am sorting out some LED number plate lights at the moment.....so no night driving for a bit.

Brook asked what type of latches we wanted, I wasn't a fan of the over centre type latch. But the barrel bolt one does clunk now and then on bigger bumps, but have hopefully got a fix for that.

I love the sliders with the inlaid checker plate. Much better than my factory standard side steps which are dented and squashed - with the squashed areas being as sharp as a razor blade where the metal has folded onto itself.

Can the swing out bars be removed intirely? For say, a trip down to the hardware store to pick up some long ply wood? Or so that you can leave the window/door down and sit in the back but not have the arm swinging around in the breeze?
The swingout wouldn't take too long to remove at all....It's just a trailer stub setup, so one nut and it all slides off......you'd just be left with a greasy stub on the bumper. And I have done as you said before with the 4Runner. It's amazing how much stuff you can actually squeeze into them when the seats and tailgate is down.

Edit, forgot to add, the swingout can be locked im the open position to stop it moving about while the tailgate is down.

Surely UES would have a slam catch or similar that would work well seeing you're getting a new arm made.

Well I went up to Brooksy on the weekend and picked up the rear bar with some mods done. Spare tyre angle has been straignted up, locking pin has been tigthened up, gas strut added to hold the carrier open, and the whole lot re-powder coated. We also test fitted all the gear gear Brooksy is currently making for another kick arse 4runner!!! and it's all looking great!!

Oh, I also trimmed off the flares level with the bar, they rubber all the power coating off when at fraser, and didn't sit right around the bar. Looks much better with them trimmed to suit,
