I have the narva little oval fog ones, the are awsome

having driven with them I would not go back to nothing, they allow you to see a hell of a lot more on night runs, and allow the spotter to see you wheels, obsticles etc and dont need a torch when you need to pack etc

anyone using any form of led lights as rock lights?? how do they go and what type?

I have el cheapo led rock lites from kmart andthey have been great. They are not under car tho, as this kills most lites.

I agree with the down light idea,, I only use them for bling & so the nav can see the wheels to guide when out of the car..but I have mounted them alot simpler & cost efective,,by cutting holes through the inner guards(holesaw)
& siliconing them in,,this way there flush with inner guard & havent broken or had to replace any in 3yrs of comp work

I think I'll try those 12V halogen down lights... so, they don't mind getting wet, eh?

Nah - they be sweet, fine and dandy in water.

Its gravel and dirt roads that they won't like. Make up some sort of a cover to go over them / chunk of clear lexan etc to protect them.

What do you use to hook the wire up to the two pins? In the past I've used the old fashioned screw-down terminal blocks - any better ways to do it?

You can buy packs of the correct fittings for the 2 pin lights from lighting places, and, Bunnings. About $10 for 5 or 6,if I remember correctly.

even cheaper from crazie clarks or the warehouse,,& at that price ive never worried about covers...theres still a set in the guards of my old wrecked pig at ALL 4x4 PARTS, & I bet they still work

even cheaper, file off the chromian(?) crud coating on the pins and solder the wires directly to the pins.

were the originally designed for 60 series cruisers or something?

...i can't for the life of me see through the footwell to the ground below....

there not usualy for the driver,but so the nav can see the positioning of your wheels to guide you through an obsticle..in this situation I usualy have the headlights turned to parkers,spotties off so there isnt any distractions for the nav

Six or eight lights all over the vehicle look awesome from outside the vehicle at 110 on the highway (its an ego thing)

shouldn't they be red, green, blue or orange then? with a drop kit and a fully sik subwoofer?

Does the term 'rock lights' mean they are facing down? I want to set up lights facing around, in particular out sideways at 45 degrees from forward, and out the back. I think it would be quite useful for getting through the trees at night.

it is good to follow an other car with rock lights also, gives a good veiw for picking a line before you get there, no need to get out of your car

the leds work light would be the go i think. Low power draw, low heat, and off e-bay there not badly priced.
As for the lights getting muddy could set up a washer bottle with sprayers on them to wash off the mud.
