You can lift a patrol 2" and stick 33/12.5 on where as you cant do that to a disco.

First of all...stop listening to the dickheads at ARB!

Of course you can lift a Disco more than 2"...they just couldn't be bothered dealing with the issues that need doing.

Do a search on suspesion lifts and you will find HEAPS of info.

My advice would be to get as much info from Land Rover specialists as possible. Speak to Bruce Davis. Research everything.

The best thing is to keep it as low as possible with the biggest tyres you can fit - including cutting. Then lock the diffs and beef up the axels/CVs.

And learn how to drive! Watch videos and see where people place their tyres. Wheel placement is EVERYTHING.

Personally, I can't see what all the issues with Rangies are, it's just misinformed idiots who rubbish the brand once again. Yes, the Lucas issue is a dead set PIA, but it can be rectifed and not cost the earth. Yes they do leak oil, but that's good rust protection Fit and finish is dodgy, but you're buying it for off-road so who gives a rats

Axles, many options and alternatives (I run Maxi Drives all round) so that's coverd.

Springs, soft to medium are the go with a Rangie for a confortable off-road ride as well as good flex. Why do you think they had a Boge strut in the arse end for?

I have seen many ex-Rangie owners sell there rigs primarily because they are poorly set-up and spent the earth on crap. Poor info from people who have no fucking idea about Rangies is also to blame.

And ARB whilts thay do make great gear, they're LR stuff isn't overly great and too mainstream IMO. They're happy seling there Toy/Nissan gear which is fine but I find some Rangie owners take there misinformed advice as gospel.

I'm no expeert but having owned 6 Rangies over 11 year period, I learned the hard and expensive way I hate to say. Rangies can be modified cheaply and safely if you do your homework
