Old man has a black 2.5 stx auto, arb bar, spots, uhf, elec. trailer brakes, turbo timer, etc etc..
still running the std continentals (crap)... Got recalled for rear axles/bearings or something?
dropped it off and picked it up. No worries. No other problems...
The turning circle is nothing short of utter shit. My patrol wagon would run rings inside the space the navara take to do a u bolt. Literally.
But if only my 3.0TD went like that 2.5!
The power curve feels a bit weird, but i suppose thats just a turbo diesel. Plenty of go after that second of turbo lag/spool time, then flattens out a bit higher in the rev range, but thats only until the next gear kicks in
Something always in the back of my mind with it tho. Can nissan be trusted with a small sized, higher powered technical diesel engine after their recent history? (ie. ZD30...) food for thought.
But yes, long and low and crap turning circle. A decent suspension lift, tyres and some underbody protection would definetly be in order...
I dont like the elec. switch 4H 4L selector either...
If i personally looking at buying a navara/pathfinder, i would seriously have to take the extra 12 or so grand and higher feul consumption into consideration for a 4.2TD patrol wagon...

I'm now running cooper stt's on 16x8 american racing rims (pythons) and I made some 2inch coil spacers for the front and added a leaf in the rear and tweaked the overload spring a bit. I had a 98 GQ flat tray turbo diesel with a 10 inch lift 5 link and 36's in the bush and 33's on the road before this car and its hard getting used to the navara but its all worth it when you filling it up with fuel and when you put your foot down. I can only hope nissan wake up and get rid of the ageing 4.2 and come up with a new power plant which will burn less fuel and have at least 50% more power so I can get another patrol in 3 years time.

Do you find the upper control arm hits the coil bucket with the spacer lift?
Are you still running the stock shocks? I find it a lot better with the after market shocks, more travel and better control.

I installed EFS suspension uypgrade a couple of month ago gave it a good 2"s of lift. Just about up to 20k and no major problems. Paid $42500 on road with alloy tray, auto with abn no.

Just wondering what sort of K's you getting per tank in the petrol.
Took my Turbo diesel for a run to melbourne towing around 800 to 1000kgs and was getting 15/100(pretty shit really).
The car is still new (2000k's) so it should get better.
Anyone else with Turbo diesel Auto post up what you get out of yours please

i got 22000k on mine and it aint getting better! i tried towing 1500Kg and it was pox! those adds on the radio about the big Pull are exactly that!! I am selling my D40 useless friggen POS!!

That sucks man.
Mine is a company car so it don't bother me that much BUT i would have got a petrol if i knew it would be this bad on fuel. Atleast i could have had some fun in the petrol
Doesn't seem to get much better without towing

yeah tell me about it's I drove 80k round trip a few months ago with my rangie that had been cut in half on the back (max of 1500kg) and i used almost a full tank a of fuel! I also have the auto and it will rev to 2500 rpm before it even starts to move! and to top things off i started a new job yesterday and the stupid thing died over the weekend! have to rest set the ecu every time i wan to go some where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait till me rangie is finished! at least i get the sound of a v8 with bad fuel consumption!
But in saying that if i were a trades man and never wanted to use it off road i would be almost ok with it. would have to upgrade the shocks and suspension

sounds like you should have got the manual Mick. I tow a 1500kg work trailer 24/7 with the 6speed manual and rarely get over 13.5 liters to the hundred. and i drive it, i dont baby it . My only complaint with my D40 is the crap suspension

maybe but the guys were saying on the manuals a very easy to stall because they have nothing down low... manual or auto it's still the same engine

proberly maf sensor or boost control valve. get nissan to pull up the codes. if your nowhere near a dealer you could try giving the maf sensor a clean with electricla contact cleaner (like the patrols do)

HEy guys
For anyone that is interested you can add a sensor from the pathfinder to the d40 to get outside tempreture on the dash.
It is a couple of minute job to do it.
The part number is
part no. is NI27722-AX600 Sensor Assy-Ambient D40Navara
part no. is NI27722-AX610 Sensor Assy-Ambient R51 Pathfinder
I am using the pathfinder one and it works a treat.
All you have to do is plug it in take battery terminals off to reset computer and re set you clock and it works.
Let me know if you want any more info
