But Sam do ya think there might be a price drop i know people have said this b4 but how is it that a 2" rise from 33's to 35's is $30 but the same 2" rise from 35's to 37's is $140 is this price gunna drop to a more reasonable price
Cheers Dan
From what I have read else where the 37" MT/r is NOT made in the same factory as the smaller sizes The 37's are made at a Good year Truck tyre factory, some have even sugested the only thing that is the same on a 37 compared to the 35 is the tread pattern but a different compond etc
Not sure there is so much crap floats around it can be hard to find the truth
My 31 MT/r are going great and I have one of the first batch that are rumoured to be a softer compond than what is being used now once again only a rumour ?? Can anyone confirm
Hypolux are your tyres engineered on your truck ?
My engineer will engineer 12.5 on an 8 inch rim.And if he is an RTA signitory then there shouldn't be any problem. Some of my customers have been pulled over for tyres but when shown the engineer's report have been left alone.

Doesn't it have something to do with what the tyre manufacturer specifies ? I mean after all, they are the ones who have done all the R&D on their tyres.
Who has the ultimate authority ?? Manufacturer, RTA, Engineer.........
BTW, I hope I don't come off all truckster like in this post
Yes It does depend on tyre manufacturer, a few years ago I did alot of research on this and bought 33x12.5 BFG's that at that time were listed by BFG to be able to fit on an 8" rim. Since then BFG have revised there specs and now require a wider rim, so as i cannot afford to run 2 sets of tyres i need to find a narrow but high at least 35" tyre to fit on my lux and keep it legal.
The engineers report will get you through with cops that dont know all the rules/regs but for ones like Ben keeps finding that like to read the regs you may be stuffed.
I run 34" simex JT2's on 7" rims and they stick out a good inch or two from the flares. Also my front bumper is cut away so the tyres are in the open at the front.
My jeep gets driven daily into the city and around the inner suburbs of melbourne and I have never been pulled over.
Oh, also it has no front number plate....I guess I am just lucky or something
Get some funny looksd when you get breathalised though
Yes my tyres r engineered on my rig (well dans 35" MTR's r anyway) but yes even wen i show the cop the engineers report that states that the tyres where on the rig at the time the inspection was dun they go on 2 explain that the tyre manufacturer states that they can only b run on a certain sixe rim and tyre combo yadda yadda yadda and if i want he will cal me during business hours the next day and get me 2 come 2 the station where he can show me the stats from the tyre manufacturer. so basically all the cops that have pulled me up know wot they r on bout, i dont know if they have my number plates on file and everytime a cop sees my rig they just pell me over coz i have given em shiat b4.......
Shorty40,
im the hooigan ?? (who screws rear tailshafts coz of their right boot ?? )
Cplux,
exactly mate thats wot both BFG and GOODYEAR said 2 me wen i called them and asked if it was possible 2 run their 12.5 wide tyres on 8 " rims and they just said straghit out NO........
Bj on roids,
10" rims far out mate u r "TEH MAN"
Zzzz,
umm yeah and it just so happens that most of the time i get given shiat from the cops is wen i get pulled up 4 a RBT. o well.......
So after all that it basically comes down 2 wot the tyre manufacturer says coz the cops r gettin their knowlege bout this stuff now and it is gettin harder and harder 2 say 'sorry orificer it was like this wen i bought it i swear' or 'i didnt know that me 75" tyres were not street legal'
I would be steering that cop towards your engineer
The size the trye manufacture states is for without an engineers cert
The engineers cert should be the last word on it regardless of what the manufacture says
I would be demanding to speak to this cops boss and claim harresment. If have an engineer cert that states this tyre and wheel combo and it is registered with this cert then the cop is in the wrong if he does not like it he has to take it up with the rego and engineer guys

Thats correct, look at it this way an engineer is paid to make the decision, he or she would not pass it if it was not LEGAL or SAFE as its their certificate or license thats on the line.
Tell the cop that he should take it up with your engineer, give the cop the details and tell him "to follow it up, that's what i'm paying you for".
Or take him up on the offer to go in there, fully prepare youself, go around to 3 or 4 engineers ask their opinion and take all the paper work in there.
Is anyone on the board a cop? I reckon if I joined the force, they'd never hassle me. Cop bikies get away with speeding all the time. So if you wanna mod your rig awesome without getting a certificate - join the boys in blue.
I've got 29" Wrangler GS/A's that come standard on the TJ. I'm upgrading to either some 31" Wrangler AT's or MTR's when these wear out, depending on how well each go on the sand & road etc. Anyone have any experience with MTR's on the sand? Do they dig in too much?
