really, some mods are easy enough to hide and you dont need to declare them - i wouldnt declare extractors, because its just an exhaust manifold, the car came factory with an exhaust manifold - its 20 years old and it needed replacing.

its just obvious stuff like oversized tyres, even then i doubt they'll care if you run 33's

its when you have tyres that are larger, and would stop the car from passing a roadworthy.

I thought I would add my experience on this issue. I'm only a nominated driver for the disco. Cheaper than insurance for myself as I'm only 18. The company I'm with is RAC and I have a $1750 premium and a $1300 excess. This is with no mods. Suprisingly I'm insured to drive offroad in reasonable conditions. Seeing as how I have just paid insurance for one year I will be holding off major mods untill that year is up otherwise I'm sure I'll be forking out over 2 grand to insure it with something like a suspension lift. If the disco wasn't my daily driver I would only insure it for 3rd party fire/theft.

JUST CARS INSURANSE. Will insure anything and anybody! and prices arn't all that bad.
