While it is true you can buy a second hand 2H high K motor for $1000 or $2000 what would you rather pay for a some one's problem's or (if well built) a motor thats good for another 300,000 k's or so.

OK then. I'd just hate to see you spend big bickies if you don't have to. The diaphragm on the rear of the injector pump is prone to spliting, especially on turboed engines. If the diaphragm splits it sucks engine oil into the cylinders hence blowing lots of blue smoke and fuel smoke. I've seen more than one incorrectly "rooted" engine diagnosed because of this....
Blowby (and lots of it) is standard on a 2h. My 2H has got enough blowby to pump ya tyres up quite rapidly, yet it still has good compression and pulls like a train.
Cheers, Dan

anyone rebuilt a 2f with lower compression to handle a turbo ?
From memory the compression in a 2F isnt that high to start with.
Layto....

Need an adaptor for the glow plug holes. Also need a guage that goes alot higher than a normal compresion tester (for petrols).
Then just hold it in the no fuel position and crank her over.

As stated, Pull glow plugs out. You need a diesel compression gauge, something that'll take 500 psi. Don't expect that from your engine though. I think about 330 or 350 from memory. Tie full lever into engine off position. Disconnect EDIC motor from pump.
Diaphragm is on the rear of the injector pump. Little squareish housing with 4 screws. There is a hose running from the throttle body down to the housing.
Cheers.

update time....
i have pulled the old motor out... i am leaning heavily towards a rebuild rather than a second hand engine for a few reasons...
1. i will feel better and not be worried about it breakin
2. resale value ( i am considering selling it when i fix it up)
cheers

oh and i am pretty sure the diaphram is leaking as it has a lot of signs of leakage around the cover plate...
but the motor is out and has 370 000 K's on it so i think it needs a rebuild anyway...
cheers

changed my mind about selling it... i am keeping it and im gonna try get it all fixed...
i have a few questions...
1. when putting a turbo on a 2H what little things have to be done???
ie: do any lines that run to the injector pump need to be changed or customised???
2. has anyone seen a half cage exo on the back of a 60??? i just want protection for the rear quarters as i have hit both sides on occasion (trees)
3. how much are the roof racks / cage things worth???
4. has anyone ever fitted aftermarket central locking??? like the ones you can get from JB and the like???
cheers
