I took apart and scanned my speedo & tach guages in a little while ago and inverted the colours to make them white .. I think they look quite good! now to adjust the readings to match my tyres and get them printed!

The temp and fuel guages were left on the mechanisms when I did the scan but should still be suitable as a template.

Im also still looking into printing options, and does anyone know where the backlight comes from? Is it from behind the panel, or infront but out of sight?

I think thats about 4 people interested.

zuwharrie.com wrote:You take the size of your new tire....say 35" and devide it by the size of your old tire ...say 26.3" ( 35/26.3 = 1.33)....but for better accuracy actually measure your new tire and not just go by what it says it is....some 35" tires may actually be 33" or 34" when measured.

Now that you know the new ratio (1.33) you will multiply it by the numbers on your speedo.....5,10,15 ect.

So now the would be like this 5mph would be 6.65.....10 would be 13.3 and so on thru all the numbers..... You can play with the math alittle to get it better adjusted. Say for example you can look at your speedo and judge about where 11mph would be on it....now multiple 11x 1.33 = 14.6 ...........so now you could put the number 15 on your speedo where you judged about where 11 would have been and it should be pretty close.

They don't light up too well so the guys use these

Looks like I have todo some math then, thanks for that info!
Can someone tell me what the stock wheels are on a Sierra, are they 26's?

+Standards
+ 31's
Any other requests?

they light from the back.

Stocks are 205/70R15 or good enough for 26", so Id work on 20% over read speed for 31" tyres this gives you a less than 0.8% error and its in your favor.

Example 100 on existing speedo your actual speed is 119.2km/h so having it read +20% would be 120km/h.

Close enough for me!

Any way of compensating for 6.5:1 transfer gears and 31's.

by Bad JuJu
Just need to compensate for the tyres I think, as the speedo drive is on the output of the xfer case and is related to wheel speed and not revs.

If thats the case then its all good

The only thing that will make the math harder is if you have done a diff ratio swap and altered tyre size.

well if its easy to do...I run 30's but if not the alterations for the 31's would still be closer to accurate than it is now!

Still working on the vectors, then ill do designs, then ill see how easy it is to make the differnt kinds. I think these should turn out well!

edit// I also need the measurements for each panel, just the height should do but maybe take the width aswell would be great. Fuel, temp, tach, and speedo. Ill post a pic of the vectors soon, Cheers guys :P

I am interested in a set too! 89 1.3 jx sierra swb 33" tyres 4.57:1 diffs. I'm not too good with the maths but heres a couple of links to gear/tyre/ratio calculators.

Ok, ill be contacting the laster cutter this week and work out what has to be done. you guys think other people, possibly on other forums will be interested too? Because the more we can get done, the cheaper it will be to make.

Im sure there would be enough interest on this forum alone. But what kind of numbers do u think will be needed to make it reasonably cheap.

I cant say untill i get the quote from the cutter, the aim is to have it laser cut out of perspex, then screen printed. My aim is to keep each set under $50

Yeh that sounds alright...are you working on the NT or WT dash though? I think you'd quite a lot of interest from other forums too such as NBS and maybe NSW suzuki club too?

Posted: Mon Jan 29, 2007 6:22 pm

yeh tru.

also remember there are a couple configurations.

NT inc tach
NT no tach
WT with tach (dont think we got WT without tach)

I'll be looking for one for 31,3.9s for a WT
