Requiring an engineers is a massive change at this late stage.
Peoples trucks are still getting built and will be finished just time to compete.
Now they need an engineers cert....pffft

According to the rules at the Tuff Truck website before I originally created this post:

A) You didn't have to be registered at all
B) You certainly didn't need an engineers certificate

The rego one was obviously an oversight and I am glad they fixed it and cleared things up.
The only reason I really created this post in the first place was to highlight the fact that no work has gone into the rules since last comp.
I love TT as a comp and want to see it improve.

Competitors need to know exactly where they stand as far out as possible.

Ah well, hope everyone still gets in...

no what i am saying is that we had some issues with the way that the rules were reading and after speaking to one of them today i have found out that there will be no issue with our entry...obviously not all modifications you do to your vehicle will be legal in your state as really this is Tuff Truck not the Deniliquin Ute Muster and Gymkhana and 31s just arent gunna cut it...

what i am saying is just ring them/email them (Thomas Roberts) and discuss your vehicle with him...far easier than throwing conjecture around on the site and getting all up in arms about it....

yes Tuff Events needs to look at the way they have the rules worded on their site and need to allow to make it broader however there would be certain things they need to publicise to fulfil their insurance requirements etc and that is where the confusion sets in

Dave they have not yet finalised the rules as of yet I also spoke with Thomas this arv ....and they still have another meeting to confirm everything ....tomorrow night

So dont get your plans set in stone yet .....they have to create AN EVEN playing field with the rules ........now I'm aware of your circumstances but where does that put other state entrants that (may still not confirmed) have to get a full engineers .....it needs to be fair to everyone ...if one has to get a full up to date engineers that covers all mods ....that should mean everyone needs up to date engineer certs that cover the mods particulary if recent mods have been made to a vehicle that already had an engineers .......

I guess there will always be a loop hole some1 will find .....so some1 find it and share with the rest of the competitors ;) there is alot of people really keen for this event (me included) ....so I hope that they can sort the rules to keep everyone happy and to also keep all the entrants that are currently entered ....IN the event

there wouldnt be many cars driving on the road that are street legal (cars, 4wds anything)..hell if you have a blown bulb in your taillight then you are no longer street legal....you need to stop trying to read between the lines on the rules ...

damn this seems to come up every Tuff Truck event..the last thread on this a couple of years ago went to like 20 pages..will we beat that record

my issue was never with the street legal side of things..my only concern was that the rules may be subjected to change at a late stage which may have meant our vehicle wouldnt qualify for the event however after speaking to them i now know that there will be no issue with it

yeah, i understand dave, but for tuff trucks to be regoed, they would have to be street/road legal, so most would fail, so why not just make it no rego needed, like the buggies, they would get alot more cars competeing

Ok so engineering certificates are a requirement ( which I agree with because otherwise it might as well be buggies).

So if that is the case I'd like to know how hydraulic steering is allowed

I love the idea of TTC being about the Toughest Trucks, but unless they are genuinely streetable then it's bit of a joke IMHO.......

OT...

The US equivalent lets buggies compete now - but it seems they set up the courses so the buggies don't have an unfair advantage. It wouls solva a lot of preoblems if the top class was anything goes (as long as safety etc requirements were met).

I am sure the TTC people will contact the competitors soon. and if not then competitors get onto them.
I am sure they will be resonable with the engineering. big tyres and big trucks etc.

and if they let buggies compete i think half the crowd would be missing.
bugies yeah cool, ozrock, werock puosu.
TTC is TUFF TRUCK, not buggy.
just my 2cents.
although hey if you can get a VIN and rego on a buggy then turn on up but i can see them being turned away.
