Looks the goods, not much left of Bob now if anything
. Just going through some pics of how it was when I bought it 6 years back (on my external hardrive, would post one up i9f I had one on hand)... Damn it was a tidy classic
But then I'm good at killing Rangies, between grimace and yours truly we have depleted QLD in particular of Rangies
Trav
PS- is that 4.6 in Bob the one I sold to Grimace?

There's HEAPS of Bob left...ZF (changing to a C4 down the track), LT230 (actually its a different one to what Bob had), Chassis rails....yeah that's about it.
Grimace still has his 4.6, this is another one.

Absofarkenlutely!!
Upper link mount/truss was done by Brooksy at C44F. This is the rear diff that will sport a double tri 4 link. The lower link brackets should be ready hopefully tomorrow and Brooksy was machining my upper links asap, so all going well I should be able to sit this under the back and start mounting it to the frame in the next week or 2.

That's the rear diff, Jeff and the tube work isn't anywhere near that truss. If you look at the picture of the frame, and imagine that the rear will sit just inside the furthermost tubework, you can see how clearing it won't be an issue.
The front housing won't have this truss. The lowers on the front are triangulated, but the uppers run fairly straight either side of the engine and a bit lower than it, so if all turns out the way I have designed it, it will sit fairly low...well as low as portals and 40" rubber let you sit, anyway.
What's the belly clearance on your MogDisco?

I could still lift the frame on my own before the donk, auto and LT went in...but it's gonna be heavy. Not as light as a true buggy...but nowhere near a full bodied rig, either. If the sprung weight (with a full fuel load and all oils) comes in at below 800kg, I'll be fawkin stoked.
How's your Rangie hunting going? Found a suitable donor yet?

Not finished yet...but it's getting closer.
My twin Detroit Lockers. Most people aren't a fan of these lockers, but I think they're great. I had one in the rear of Bob when the Toy-Rover diffs were under him and I couldn't fault it. They work really well on rock, which is precisely where Bob will spend most of his wheeling life.
These ones are the 40 spline version, courtesy of a trade deal with Keith Kruetzer from Roving Tracks

You can see from this pic how farkin massive the axles will be
45mm diameter...fat.
Chuck from Haultech is putting these in over the next week or so in his spare time, so as soon as they are in I can accurately measure the lengths needed for the custom axles that Keith is making. 1.7" at the lockers and 1.8" where they pass through the Mog portal flange.
Yes, Grimace...I said flange.

They are how Matt Dunk did the lower links on the Bush Rangie...I just changed them to 22 degrees to allow for my triangulated lowers. They work out really well this way and allowed me to mount my lowers as wide as possible and get the vertical seperation that I wanted.
Did you get around to measuring the belly height on yours yet?

That's quite low considering your running gear. Nice work. I have been aiming at around 25" or 635mm for belly height, but if yours is 600 I should be able to get that with 40" tyres.

Got some pics through from Greg at Outcast Offroad. He designed and fab'd up the transmission tunnel for Bob. The pics are poor quality, but I'll post up some better ones over the weekend when I go to see Bob.

Greg from Outcast Offroad has been working some more magic into the build. I scored an AU radiator and twin thermos in exchange for some work for BJ on Roids, and Greg fitted it up...including some Outcast BLING

The dash is almost complete.
Greg designed the panel and had it lazer cut and bent to shape, including the holes for the guages. I just need to buy the switch panel to add to it.

Really?
5:1 in the transfer is for women and poofs.
Standard gearing is where its at...especially when you have 10.01:1 in the diffs and portals.
