def-90 wicked 90 bud

have to watch those steps though they hang fairly low, but by the picture you have little ones to get in it.

what lift are you going to run?

are those 34's? jt's.

its great to see more modded 90's, rare as rocking horse...

try and get some wheeling pics up...
although i can't talk i have bugger all as i rarely have passengers to take them

DEF90, thats a similar position intercooler that i was going to have, then i swapped it for a supra twin turbo one (flatter than the subaru one) i now have the intercooler mounted on the top of the rocker cover with a small hole in the bonnet. I am almost finished the turbo conversion - oil/water lines and the exhaust.

are your waterlines just heater hose? where did you get your oil pickup from, the vacuume pump drain?

how have you run your exhaust? 3" or 2.5"? did you cut the firewall/ floor or did you run it on the outside of the chassis?

ive been doing this conversion for a year now, inbetween doing cut and shut/respray on a commodore, working 60hrs a week and rebuilding the old lockless. why isn't there 40 hours in a day?????

this is how i had it 6 months ago.

Andy

turbo

Post by def90 »

andy,
mate tell me about it, days are too short!! that's why i had to get mine done for me, bar the fact that i would annoy the crap out of everyone i know asking q's every 5 sec's.

yes the waterlines are just from the heater, once undone the heater the hoses fitted perfectly when cut in the middle and plumbed to turbo.

i'll check oil feed tonight, can't remember.

i got my exhaust running straight from turbo, straight down dump pipe in front on starter, then in between chassis rails through to back passenger cnr. up out of harms way, plus 35's just about rip it off when it goes through the wheel arch. it's 2.5" not mandrel, on a budget plus i figured its not all that long on a 90 anyway.

i had it down pre-turbo as well. it would be interesting to hear and drive with 3" mandrel i think? but the 2.5" still sounds really nice. can definetly hear the whistle even at idle.

got any more recent photos of your top mount? i'd like to change mine, but the amount of pipe work under my bonnet with the tein snorkels etc, i don't know if i could be bothered?

Check out my avatar, not quite as impressive but that same mud bog caught me out a few weeks later when a cable caught in my airbox allowed a small gap for water to get sucked in, so half awy through......nothing. about 1/2 a foot of water in the cab which slopped all over the back saets and boot when I got snatched out up the steep exit. Lost the stacker under the seat as well but had the car back running after a couple of hours once the electrics dried out.

I try to stay away from mud holes like this now as I have so many issues with muddy water screwing up bearings etc....gets expensive.......damned fun though!!!

Your pictures don't work because I think you are trying to get them from the members area of ALRO site, which is not available to share?

Quote from site when copied image link...

"Hi you were trying to reach /albums/Dave-Mates-Modified-Landy-s/100_0251Mod.sized.jpg it is unavailable or non existent please access the site directly at http://www.aulro.com/"

you may need to place images on a different host site to be able to share them?

if i'm wrong, someone more knowing than i can correct me on this...

Ok...finally after owning my Rangie for nearly 2 years I can finally post a few pics...no action shots unfortunately...

I bought it stock standard off a one owner and since then I have slowly been modifying it myself. Mods include:

2" spring lift
2" body lift
front and rear bars (modified for body lift)
dual batteries
headlight upgrade
9000 warn winch
modified shock towers
removed boge unit
2.5 inch exhaust plus extractors
31" muds
uhf/cb/cdma
Upgraded steering arms
diff protectors
heaps of other stuff

Future plans are of course maxi drives front and rear and a set of real tyres...

The flares are a plastic moulding. I got them second hand from British off road wreckers near Brisbane...never seen them before. There are no identifying markings on them so i have no idea where they are made.

no guard cutting...just used some stainless self tappers to hold them to the lip.

I will be upgrading to LRA fibreglass flares soon...so if you want them I will let you know when I do the change over.

Yeah that would be good, budget wont allow for lra flares yet.

thanks,
nick.
