Tks, I'm very happy with the results, ease of maintenance access for removing the rocker cover, far simpler than Marins to manufacture. No flange to remove to access the rocker cover, simple machining of the manifold for integration. Quite a lot of people have enquired about Marins but it was really never going to be cost effective to manufacture.

This however will only be $500 more than the bolt on.

Turning into a GU parking lot here with the 40 as a loner :D

Yeah, just wondering how the cooler is keeping up with temps with the new pump etc.

I have driven bens and it goes well, wasnt sure if his was the only dsl with over 100rwkw running the cooler.

Marin makes 140rwkw on 35's and 4.11 diffs @ 23psi
Clint makes 166 on 35's and 4.6 diffs @ 30 psi

Both are at the limits of the heat exchanger not the intercooler.

Yeah thought that might have been the case.

Have you thought of running a reservoir Matt to try increase water volume?

Or would it not be worth while for the extra volume for the time and space taken up?

I'll also put my hand up for that question Matt.

Have wondered about the ability of a larger volume of water to 'help absorb' some of the heat when under load, which can then be 'cooled' when not under load (if that makes sense?).

Cheers, and keep up the great work.

Larger Volume of water helps yes.

The bigger the hear exchanger the better too.

All comes down to horses for courses.

Best Solution is a huge ass heat exchanger on the rear tray out of the mud, but functionality is not always quite so easy.

So it's a little give and take.

Both Marin and Busman's GQ intercoolers max'd the standard pump out and coped with the work load, EGT's were much lower and both had very good power and torque gains to boot.

The pump upgraded GU and Marin's both work well but do suffer heat soak eventually. This is due the the very high efficiency of the intercooler. But you are pushing really hard to do that. EGT's come up faster but that's more the result of pushing greater power than the intercooler not coping.

For a stock GU or GQ with a TD set up the results are excellent Hebbles GU will shortly be on the Dyno I believe, but he already has max'd the fuel pump out and has lower EGT's.

Following some quite extensive discussions on LCOOL... next step would be to look at oil temp matt ;) From my readings, EGT is not the be all and end all. More important is the ability of the IC to remove intake charge heat (which clearly the laminova is good at), which reduces the amount of heat that can be transferred into the pistons/block coupled with the heat created by combustion.

Consider the can of worms opened.....

been thinking about an insulator between the intake manifold and the head to reduce heatsoak to the intake manifold , there would have to be gains there aswell wouldnt there ??

but oil needs to be maintained at a certain temp, most oil coolers run a thermostat to make this happen, and are usually capable of keeping the oil temps in check, even on track days...

Have looked into getting a phenolic spacer laser cut... but not part of the budget atm, would need to get a small run cut to make it cost effective, then would have to sell them etc etc... cauz I think mine suffers from heatsoak a little with the excessive boost.

Next trial when money allows.... aircon gas :)

Matt,

How do you think one of these I/C would go in an all out race truck running 25psi most of the time reving hard, racing up river beds and in thick heavy mud, Outback challenge style racing aswell as your usual winch challenge and general offroad racing.

I was thinking of ditching my A/A i/cooler and moving the radiator to the tray, so i can run a LARGE heat exchanger and also have room to run my winch further back into the body (in an attempt to gain more approach angle)

Works a treat in mine at Comp..

Whats the plan here Ben? Are you going to try and set it up as a water replacement, or to help keep the water cool? Sounds like an interesting concept - i'd be keen on some sort of data in relation to how much power the A/C compressor suck too.

Plan was to run it as a replacement....

Can't say too much at present but TD42 integrated 4 core @ 35psi, 210rwkw flatlining intake temps 15C above ambient and still tuning.

More info due later this week.

The rig is running a new turbo and set up so I can't say, but the customer is far happier with results and is not putting the Frozen Boost back on. So make of that what you will.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for.
