I drowned the engine (very upset about that) so picked up a VT V8 to replace it with (not so upset about that).
The standard exhaust manifolds won't fit real well. I have heard that SS block hugger headers exist, is this true.
If not what might be a good set of headers to start modifying to fit.
Cheers.

Hey,
I have a Mitsubishi triton 2.8 N/A diesel. Just wondering what I can do for a bit of extra get up.
I don't know a whole heap about exhausts etc.....but I understand that extractors and a straight through system may be the way to go???
Just wondering if I am going in the right direction, or if you have other thoughts. All help greatly appreciated.

Dubai UAE Extractors
Hi Exhaustfix,
thanks for all the help you have provided us thus far. I live in Dubai, UAE and I have a GQ LWB with a TB42E engine. We are left hand drive here. Most of the extractors and exhaust systems we get are US makes, as seen here http://www.goldencaruae.com/Products-Ex ... System.htm I also have found a German make Fox, but they are quoting very high prices, all stailess steel.
We also have locally manufactured MS versions too, but the reliability is questionable.
I was wondering whether importing Pacemaker or Genie headers and then fitting the US make exhausts cat-back and muffler will work? Or do you know any US makes that would fit the TB42E engine. Also would the OZ makes fit a left hand drive vehicle, thinking steering clearance maybe an issue?
If Pacemaker can fit, do you know any business that is geared to export to us here in the sand lands?
Cheers

Jimny Extractors
Probably a dumb question, but, are the extractors for Jimny motors interchangeable? As in would a set off the G13 (earlier model)fit the M13 (current model) or are the exhaust outlets and stud patterns diferent.
I have a G13 set and a M13 motor, mate fitting a G13 at the moment, if they won'y fit my new motor they might as well go on his. I know the simple answer is go and try, but I am not in a position to do so at the moment.
If someone has a catalogue and can see the same part number for both (I think 2002 was the changeover year) or different part numbers would be a great help.
thanks

Hey Mate, can you suggest what size zaust and mufler would work well with a chev 6.2l diesel N/A
currently running twin 2.5" to a 3" single through a big drum mufler
Current set up is very quiet, looking for something that is a little noiser and allows the not of the V8 and oiler to come through
also do you know anyplace that sells the cable activated bypasses to bypass the zaust priot to the mufler to fee air?
Thanks Muchly

If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
Popping myself into a long line of questions, to be answered at your leisure.
I'm redoing the exhaust on '91 80series (well its you who'll be doing it, how else can we thank you?) and have 3 easy questions.
what size for best compromise between power gains and exhaust noise (missus likes to travel quiet...)? Mandrel bent will be the go, mild steel for $$, keen to ditch some of the mufflers that hang waaaay low...!
Turbo is on the cards, but down the track a ways. Is there a way I can do some of the work now for it, to reduce the work later?
And finally, full exhaust replacement + extractors as above for 1hz - 'roughly' what price?
'Preciate your time, you'll be hearing from me.

must say guys, i had a WRX and went to EXHAUSTFIX to have a 3" system done about 2-3 years ago. after having this done (plus a turbo upgrade) i took it to a jap dyno tune place to have it tuned and do a power run. when it was put up on the dyno, the manager of the joint asked me where i had the exhaust made. i said "exhaustfix" in croydon. and he said that he was going to refer all of his customers there, as he said it was a "work of art" "lovely welds" "great flow" and "looks sweet".
I have no affiliation to this business, nor do i have any personal contact/relationship with any of its employee's. just a fan of quality workmanship and quality products.
this place dosent NEED to advertise, all you need to do is look at their work and that is advertising all on its own!
i will be having all my exhaust work done by them!

hey ExhaustFix i love what your doin here its awesome to know we can jus ask u for straight up honest advice and not have to rely on what people in the shops say which may be slightly twisted to suit them anyway.
ive got a 2.4L 1987 4runner with aftermarket turbo fitted and was wondering what a larger exhaust will do to economy, power and also hearing the turbo spooling up and down-yes yes u guessed it-im of the younger generation
i am also of the understanding turbos are classified as a sound deeding device which means i dont ahve to have a muffler-is this correct?
what size exhaust do you recommend-as far as i know its standard at the moment. and approximate prices i should expect Unless u suggest i stick with what ive got
Thanks in advance for your advice much appreciated

Hi there, I have a '78 FJ40 2F (petrol 4.2litre). I have just had Performance Exhaust in Ringwood fit a completely new system comprising new extractors, pipe and single muffler. Old one was completely stuffed. I am fitting a reco'd 2F which has had some major headwork, Shaved, ported polished etc. New Electronic custom Dizzy. My mechanic has told me the system on my car now will be too small. He thinks it's about 1.75 inch. (will measure up in next few days. He has told me it should be about 2.5 inch. It's not a daily driver, I don't care if it's loud, (it's purely an off-road truck and running 38 swampers makes it pretty damn loud anyway)just don't want to restrict the power, nor blow it up either.
Thanks for your help

hey mate just after some info for an exhaust for a 2.8turbo GQ (97).i have a set of 33" tyres and find it lacks of power down low. i thought of upgrading the exhaust and just want to know if anyone can help me on what size is good and to run it straight from the turbo or... also if i was to upgrade the dump pipe would it be the same size as the exhaust? any help would be great. thanks
Hey Doc zorst just a quick couple of questions.
Im planning on running a supercharged commodore V6(around 7-8psi) in my truggy I was thinking of going extractors and a short twin system with no cats (not road driven) and probably just a hotdog muffler on each side with pipes dumping just behind the cab.
I have been told that a twin system should always have a balance pipe joining the two sides together, is this true? and why?
What size pipes do you recomend and will just the hotdogs have enough back presure?
Cheers
Paul.

G'day Ross,
Probably a simple question you have no doubt answered on this forum somewhere before, but here goes:
I have a '99 3.0 diesel lux and i have busted my manifold. Apart from the clicking that pisses me off i dont know whether to replace it with another stocker, extractors onto standard exhaust, extractors on new exhaust, or to rip the whole lot out and turbo it (not all that keen on doing this. although its regularly serviced and very well looked after the engine has done just over 250,000kms).
What i would like to know is your reccommendations and an approximate price for each option. Any power increase is an advantage. You would probably know the old 5L isnt the fastest or most poowerful of engines
Cheers mate,
Regards Dave.

Ross,
Can you source extractors for the twin cam 2 litre 97 Sportage?
What would be the best exhaust system for lowdown torque, better fuel consumption and power.? Was thinking around 2.25 from Cat back?
Cheers, Chris

Hi,
car : 87 dual cab Hilux
engine : yn67 4y
Currently have bought some extractor pipes that have a 2" pipe on the end
should I build the new system this wide or keep same size pipes as stock system?
When i buy a muffler what sort is a good bang for its buck ?
I read that for petrol engine I should use a straight through muffler to keep back pressure is this right ?
Also in QLD what are the legalities of where the tailpipe should end ? only ask because thinking of shortening it for a little extra clearance in rear.
Also what sort of cat should i use ? cheapest one possible ? or none although i hear thats illegal in QLD
And also with layout of system should i put it all in the same location as stock system or is there a better muffler location ?
And the small braided sections need replacing I'm pretty sure they are shot thru how many do i need and wtf are they ?
Any info/tips/advice will be much appreciated
Cheers Dean.

Hi Exhaustfix, i'm hoping you can point me in the right direction to get this done right the first time.
I am getting a set of exhaust flanges made by Eng Tek in Melbourne (1 from turbo and 1 to exhaust pipe) and need someone to fab/mould/weld the pipe between it.
Is there anything I need to know to avoid problems e.g. use a particular wall thickness pipe, do/don't use stainless etc.
This is the sort of thing I want to end up with.
Tried Tiapan on the GC (the pic is from their web site) but they told me they don't do them - go figure ???
Also can anyone recommend someone in/near Brissy to do it ???
Doug.

Hi there exhaustfix,
got a 1988 1.3 sierra for my daughter to due up. Was wondering what the best manifold / exhaust set up would be. Currently has std manifold and system (although with no cat, just a small resonator in its place and larger resonator at rear). Air box runs a finer filter.
Dont want too loud as it is a soft top.
Any info appreciated.
