Here is my D2 99 its a V8

it has a 5 inch lift which was to be 4 however Dobinson got that wrong the spring rates are 280 rear 220 front
Bilstein 7100 shocks 12 inch traveling front and rear
and a whole heap of Rovertym gear like lower shock mount cross member spacers Ive retained the springs front and rear top and bottom
Lockers front and rear and a bull bar
next is some flares and new steel rims and tyres 34-35 not sure yet but wider to make up the track
sliders and rear bar will be fabricated once I buy a welder

Still need to work on the links for ACE and other bits and peices for it to flex better

a work in progress

Looks good Rovernit..its good to see a nice looking Disco that hasnt been destroyed by over modifying.

Looks like the Rear end needs some work as it aint flexing stuff all.
280lbs is way to stiff but i think i read somewhere you were looking at changing rear springs?

At the moment is all up travel 8 inch up 4 inch down its not the spring rate Slunnie here has much harder springs there some where and some how binding that ive yet to clear it could be ACE links that need looking
into

in that pic the front drive shaft was binding up to I dont know if there was something in that, thats limiting flex

oh well I get to that

Last week I placed 16mm plate and shim under the spring seat thats leveled things up it also created a better ride not sure why

alot of work yet to be done

Hi just bought my first Rangie, probably seen it recently on ebay.
Drive it 600km or so home no dramas, had patrols and zooks before, but must say this is nicer to drive and got some reasonable economy on hwy.
Pretty shit around town though. 87 model, 5 speed, bit of a roughie cosmetically.

Its changed Quite a bit again since those pic's. Now has a center winch for the real tech' sites, Gigglepin long trailing arms, and its about to have a re think on the front. I really like the defender front end but the bumper is going and the winch will be mounted straight between the frame rails with maybe a little alteration to the front part of the wing. Also the front axles going to move forward (possibly full hydro steering so i can do this) and when Ive decided what to use I'm gona change the axles for something stronger.

does your r'cage tie into the firewall or just to the top of your sliders? or the outrigger? just wondering on the lateral strength if it drops that far before being fixed to something? mine ties into the firewall just under the wing top all the way down to the bottom, but i've heard some people not like this idea too?

going to steal your front 'scrub bar' idea too, but slightly mod it to stick out further! saw your post on pirate and looks like a couple of people use this idea as you can have flat panels that are easy to replace rather then trying to find whole new fenders.

I asked the same question on your build up thread:

"How much of the Disco grill did you have to cut out to get the RRC bullbar and winch to fit? Do you have any close up pics of the grill I can look at?

I have a RRC ARB winch bar and Warn XD9000 winch that I'm going to put on the front of my 98 tdi Disco and am wondering before I do, what type of surgery on the grill will need doing.

Very nice build up by the way. If I didn't have three tin lids, I'd contemplate doing the same thing. "

Cheers
