It will do the job for sure, well and truely rated for the weight you want to tow and will do a reasonable speed for the load. How much are you paying and do a search on 86 efi to see what to look for, I have all
the shite that goes wrong with those written at home, i can post it up tonight but all in all they are a very reliable old dunga.
From experience (have both) my troopie 4.5litre is heaps better towing than my rangie 3.5l or my mates 4.2 rangie
a) the 4.5 has heaps more go
and
b) the leaf springs in the rear make handling a lot more predictable
and
c) the 4.5 keeps its cool no matter what you throw at it.
Dont know what price you could get a 75 series mine has been very reliable and uses about 18litres per hundred k's compared to the rangies 25 odd
