Good question... haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I can certainly feel the hot air coming out of the vents sitting at idle.

I also installed a tranny cooler on the power steering return line so I guess that will add a *little* heat under the hood... but remove it from the power steering fluid!

The other thing I want to do is move my damn number plate - at speed I'm sure it blocks a bunch of air from the radiator.

How are they held on, just the double sided tape? Might have to go see if I can find that type at the local repcol, didn't see them last time I looked.

the "NISSAN" thing on the grill of GQ's blocks about 15-20% air flow (they told us this at driver training).. Sounds hard to believe, but yea, also look at ya spotties.. They wouldnt help :(

With the winch, spotties and # plate up there I wouldn't be surprised if it blocked 50% of the air at speed...

Yes, they are just held on by double sided tape and they came from Repco. I ended up using these because the slots that I cut in the ones on the hood would have turned out to be relatively small in total area, and the holes were directly above some electricals in the engine bay that I was not keen to drop a bunch of water directly onto (if it rained it would fall straight in).

These small ones have a larger hole, and being on the side won't drop water on stuff under the hood... and there seems to be hot air coming out of them so I guess that's a good thing... measuring how much effect they have is tricky though - it will be very subjective.

those scoops look definatly yank . probably a vette or pontiac. I like the idea of spacing up the bonnet i'll work awesome . I just bought a intercooler of a GU ( I think) and need some sort of scoop to fit it on my MK . I heard that the nissan scoops dont push a lot of air in?

what about a decent-sized rectangular hole (or two smaller holes) high on the firewall to vent into the plenum ?

This would mean zero mods to bonnet and am pretty sure rego concerns aren't high 4 U these days re: firewall mods and technically there's still steel between you and the engine anyway (sure engineers wouldn't see it this way tho).

Could incorporate a grill in the hole to retain some strength.

Water spray shouldn't be an issue as the plenum is setup to drain away when it's washed in. For extreme immersion a rubberised flap could be used to block it off or booty-version - race tape.

At speed it would work the opposite way and draw cool air into the engine bay.

Only drawback I can think of is if you still had the heater in the rig you'd get to enjoy engine odours in the cab when the heaters on

They look like the Ventshade multi fit stick on scoops. I had a set here until last week.
