Well according to Gutless and my tech combined, either 16V vitara or Jimny G13BB
I don't believe we ever say the G16A in Australia, I think they're all B's.

I think that the BB and 16v vit heads are the same. Baleno is identicle to vit save for the water outlet housing and the CAS on the back of the head. I think you will find that the only difference between the BB extractors and the Vit extractors will be that the BB ones will follow the block more closely than the Vit ones, due to the Vitara having slightly wider rails at the front.

Now most of the wiring i have sorted out, but there is still some, or a heap that im not yet sure on where or if i need to connect them.
1) Data Link Connector wire
2) Duty Output Terminal
3) Radiator Control Relay, as i have no thermos is this needed?
4) Co Adjusting Resistor. I dont have this resistor, do i need to find 1?
5) Power for backup. The sierra will already have it in the standard wiring, do i really need this for the computer or just does the baleno clock etc work off the wire for a baleno?
6) I also have a Blue and Black wire opposite the fuel pump relay wire. In the ecu plug/pinout. Does any1 know what this is for? it is not shown in the pinout diagram.
7) Diagnostic switch terminal
8) Test switch terminal
9) Both the Electrical load signal wires
If any help is given, a big thanks to u guys!

Im also considering doing the 1.6 CDI baleno swap, can get an engine, loom and computer for $1600 including giving em old sierra motor. Is this a fair price? Also is there any problems with them removing it all for me, as they wont let me do it myself, just worried that they will just snip off all the wires at the firewall or somethin.

BUY IT AS A COMPLETE FRONT CUT OR YOU WILL BE FOREVER LOOKING FOR SMALL PARTS TO GET IT RUNNING!!!
What is a CDI?

He's probably referring to the coil pack ignition.

so its the MPI petrol, not a common rail injected deisel (CDI)

Sorry yeh MPI, im a diesel man.
Soo, then around how much for a front cut would i expect to pay?

CRD
,
when i first saw that I thought that the 1.6 came out with capacitor discharge ignition.

I picked up 2 entire Baleno front cuts a few years back with low kms for $1100 each. This is exceptionally low, so I would expect to pay around 1500 - 2000 for a good one.

Ok thanks ill keep those prices in mind.
Another question, did the baleno g16b MPI come with auto transmission, and if so, does that matter if youre bolting it to sierra box, as far as the computer etc is concerned?

I'm pretty sure the baleno ran a 4sp elec auto. If so, it would have a special ECU that controls the auto aswell as a shite load of extra wiring......I know the vitaras did, and I can only imagine that the newer motors and boxes in the balenos are the same or worse......

Would anyone happen to have a wiring diagram for the 1.6 MPI distributorless model?

i found the workshop manual on ere, rar files like the usual suzukiinfo page
http://www.clubaleno.co.uk/new_forum/vi ... php?t=2981
And another, Just follow through it. "CluBaleno" is the password and i think it is case sensitive, then everything should be fine.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/kivoae
I think this Baleno discussion should go in the bible

Yup you get to be in 'the bible', the holiest of holys. This really is a very helpful thread, i got a lot outta it. The bleedin manual download isnt workin either dammit, it says they know its stuffed and are looking into it.

I have the manual on CD somewhere. If I can find it I can make some copies and post for a few $$ donation

Well i just picked up a 1999 Baleno wreck for $1500, has everything still in it but the coils and cam sensor, and gearbox which i dont need. The wrecker will give me the missing sensor and coils later.
Oh for a wiring diagram, might have to get it off you gutless but i wan it tomorra dammit, puhleese someone send mee

Some pretty good goin there! Why was the car wrecked?, looks good to me?
yup, im still wiring mine, im a noob at wiring, i have some idea but it might bite me in the bum later...

The only major difference with the jimny is the water neck on the inlet manifold - on the Baleno this is deleted and just feeds coolant to the throttle body, the water flows straight out of the back of the head.
BLuesuzy, I'd be keen to see your solution to the thermostat housing problem, we have resolved the one we were doing but it was pretty fiddly. Ours runs under the inlet manifold so it's super neat with the engine in the car.
The best solution is a Jimny manifold but they don't grow on trees and aren't actually as neat as the baleno version.

It was hit from behind, one of the good wrecks, as theres never anything useful up the rear, most you find are front end stoves.
Posted: Mon Feb 04, 2008 6:26 pm
by BlueSuzy
Yeah my water outlet comes out of the back with a modded new thermo housing and runs all the way to the front, ontop of the exhaust manifold, but not connected to the exhaust manifold, (as i thought heat would play with the water), then a bend at the front of the pipe makes it run parrallel to the radiator . I used the original sierra hose! Underneath the manifold would of been a big pain in the rear!

by Gwagensteve
Getting it under the manifold was easy, no harder than going over the exhaust manifold. The pita part was turning it and getting it to clear the firewall. Took a couple of custom flanges and short radius steampipe elbows.
An advantage of going under the inlet manifold is that the pipe is lower than the head so it shoudln't have any air lock problems. Plus I really didn't like the look of the water pipe running beside the head.

ah ok, yeah looked abit iffy "in my head"
but it turned out perfect for me, few brass bends, tapped fittings and the radiator cap is still above my 1.3 radiator but, so airlocks shouldent be a problem right? I also sprayed it in the extractor black paint, looks good all new. I wish you could help me with the wiring, im so confused.
and its the last thing on my mind to get the thing going.

It's not really that hard, but does take time and patience.
There are only actually about 4 wires to connect.
Start wire
Ignition switched positive
Ground
constant 12V
everything else is contained in the engine loom.
If you get further into it, the VSS needs to be installed and grounded, the check engine light given a ignition switched positive supply.
You have downloaded the Baleno FSM linked in a earlier post? In the FSM there is a nice diagram of the ecu and all circuits in a simple schematic view. It's SUPER useful and sorted the one I am doing ATM very easily.
This, and the next page, are the pages you need, as the next page gives you the description for each component in the circuit, but the full manual is what you need so you have flash codes etc so download it.
YES THIS IS SLOW TO LOAD ITS QUITE A BIG FILE. It's much easier to follow than the full wring diagram for a Baleno.
Steve.
